That's a pretty hefty jump in logic to make.

If you take Shadowman 11-16, End Times 1-3, and Punk Mambo Special, you have 10 issues, almost the same amount as the first Shadowman Deluxe had. Throw in 13X or the Dr. Mirage mini and, viola!!, you have a Deluxe Edition Vol. 2 that I, for one, would buy.
Not so hefty if you look at this way: would VEI choose to open the volume with 11 and 12? :?

I don't think they would, but of course I could be wrong.

I don't have the Shadowman Deluxe Edition .. but I think 11 and 12 are included. In the Amazon description it mentions Jim Zub aad Ales Kot who were involved in those 2 issues.

We might not see 13-16 any time soon in Deluxe format but eventually I could see issue #13-#16, Shadowman Endtimes #1-#3, and then another 5 issue Shadowman mini-series being the 2nd Deluxe edition.

Then hopefully a "reboot" to the character with a new ongoing series
I have it. It's 1-10 and 0. That's it, 11 issues in total.
wow that's pretty weak. X-O, Harby and A&A all had at least 14 issues.

I'm glad i didn't get it yet .. I'll wait for it to drop more in price.

I guess my question to you would be, why not? While both issues are mediocre, they aren't bad (and I rather enjoyed #12.) End Times is bad.

But even if you're right, and I acknowledge that you might well be, why does the book have to open with those issues? They're pretty nondescript continuity-wise. They could open with 13X or 13-16, then add them in, or even put them in the back like they did with X-O 16 in the Q&W Omnibus.
I wonder what it would be like to be a lonely, muck-encrusted monster? Probably be an improvement.

I ordered mine through Amazon (UK), for £29.99; several days later the price drops to £26.99 - you could say I am slightly annoyed! facepalm

I both agree with you and don't. 11 issues is small, even smaller by comparison, but it sets them up for a Volume 2 much easier.

Plus, and I can't stress this enough, it reads better without those issues included. IMO
I wonder what it would be like to be a lonely, muck-encrusted monster? Probably be an improvement.

I am not saying they are bad issues, and in fact extolled what I saw as the merits of #11 at the time. Please don't assume I disliked those issues. :)

I hated End Times, but that is a different debate... facepalm

What I am suggesting is that I cannot see VEI opening the volume with them. And as for changing up the order, that would put them in the order of 'new costume', then 'old costume', so would have visual continuity problems; so at best maybe throw them in the back? Then why not do so with volume 1? :?

Interesting ... that means they will probably reprint the X-O tie-in issues to the Unity deluxe.

So Unity deluxe would probably be the first arc + XO tie-ins ... and then the Dr. Silk arc.

The Armor Hunter Unity issues will be part of the Armor Hunters Deluxe ... maybe they won't even include them if there is a 2nd Unity deluxe

If Harbinger Wars is anything to go off of, they will. HW has the mini plus the Harbinger and Bloodshot tie-ins. Both Harbinger and BS books also have the HW tie-ins but not the mini. So expect Unity to have a minimum of the first two arcs and XO ties, plus possibly the third (AH) arc as well, minus the AH mini.
I wonder what it would be like to be a lonely, muck-encrusted monster? Probably be an improvement.

Damn it, they are really make it hard to decide to stick with one method of purchase. I enjoy reading my comics in trade and this just makes it difficult to make a choice on which to by trade or deluxe wait everything now.

Valiant's contiguous publishing of a series has just felt very unreliable to me, so at this point I'm only buying the Deluxe HC's that maintain a full series. Too many mini-series, and brandings of stories without clarity. I remember when they were advertising Planet Death, I wasn't sure if it was a mini-series on it's own or what. This was at the same time as Harbinger Wars, which had a mini, and was also a cross over, and I was hearing rumblings of Archer and Armstrong being cancelled (is that even being published, or was that changed to the Quantum & Woody with A&A book?). Then there was the Q&W series, but was that cancelled? LOL!

At this point I'm only buying Rai and the Deluxe HC's. Ummmm. was Rai cancelled or is that a mini-series?

Rai is still on going. Rai #5 is the most recent. It's taking an every other approach. It looks like after completing a full four issue arc they take a bit of a break presumably so Clayton Crain can catch up on on art so they don't miss a release. I'll admit that I'm deluxe waiting Rai on the off chance they include the plus edition content.

I am a little bit surprised the Faith #0 does not appear to be included. I wonder if that may end up in a Unity volume, although that would seem an odd choice if the case.

I'm afraid some issues just won't be collected or included in deluxe editions at all. I'm still disappointed that armor hunters is coming out before the second XO book. Being a reader strictly through the deluxe editions, this leaves me in an awkward reading position with the release dates.

I too was a little confused by the release of the Armor Hunters deluxe before the X-O Vol 2 Deluxe but oh well - at least it's only a month worth of wait. I have already read the content of the vol2 and waiting for AH deluxe as I haven't read that yet. The wife on the other hand ( whom I am slowly turning into a comic reader :D ) needs to have the whole thing available to her and in order or she loses interest.

As far as faith 0 goes, I know this issue is included in the Unity TP vol 4 so it will probably also be included in whatever configuration the Unity Deluxe will end up as.

umm I was kind of hoping that the Unity deluxe would skip the crossover stuff that has been printed elsewhere like issues 1-4 (included in the x-o DLX 2 )and the armor hunters stuff. It seems almost awkward to have stand alone stories in there without the companion stuff.

Then again I am the kind of person that likes to read the entire story. The Armor Hunters DLX was my first reading through that and so was Harbinger Wars DLX.

I knew that weird 6 month period of one-shots and minis was going to screw up the Deluxe treatments. I feel like Faith #0 should definitely be included in the Unity Deluxe. Punk Mambo may never appear in one. Etc.

I need A&A vol 2! I've decided to just stick with the Deluxe Harbinger, XO and A&A volumes for now, though I'm tempted by Bloodshot and Armor Hunters. Shadowman and Q&W I'll pass on...maybe down the line if I feel the itch, though. :D

Unity, I'm not sold on with all the crossover issues appearing in other Deluxes, much like I feel about Harbinger Wars Deluxe.

Anyone think we'll ever get an EW Deluxe? The 8 issue Pak run, plus Days of Steel would be 11 issues. Maybe throw Unity #0 in there to beef it up to 12...or even add The Valiant? (Though I'm hoping The Valiant goes in a Deluxe with Book of Death and the 4 one-shots. :hope: )

Now how long do I have to wait for Rai, Imperium, Timewalker, Ninjak and Bloodshot Reborn...? :hm:

As someone who enjoys my re-reading through hard-covers, knowing the haphazard nature of the era of mainly minis may leave some unfortunate gaps like you say, is a little disappointing.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month
