Could also have a Project Rising Spirit, with separate BS and HC stories; and a Harbinger series that separately follows the Renegades, Gen Zero, and Harada. And X-O/Armorines.BugsySig wrote:Not a horrible idea, but I just don't know how well anthologies do in the market. Most don't seem to last very long, even long established ones like MCP and DHP have come and gone (Though DHP has made a comeback recently).kjjohanson wrote:I'd love to see an 80-page monthly with the Anni-Paddas. Three separate stories, but every so often 2 or 3 could connect.icefan13 wrote:There will be anthologies I believe not just limited series. Dino said in the Comic Vine interview that the second phase of Valiant First will have some new price points.
Do the same for Shadowman, Doctor Mirage (maybe 48 pages).
I like the Immortal Brothers Anthology idea, though. Maybe a Darque Passages one with the Darque's, Shadowman and Dr. Mirage would work well...could introduce some others like Trinity Angels, etc., too.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Re: Speculation on which titles are continuing and how
What was confirmed was simple VEI will continue to put out 9 titles a month each month, if that mean mini-series or maxi series so be it. Keep in mind that Valiant is the only company outside of Marvel and DC that is putting out books with a shared Universe. Somethings work as an ongoing something are better as a limited series. What I do know is this isn't like Acclaim when they canceled Ninjak and everything went down hill from there, it has a total different feel to it. No offence to any regular writer that has worked or is working for Valiant but as long as VEI has Dysart and Venditti working on there titles I'm all good. These are the two most important assets they have still.

I'm fairly certain that Mirage will be taking the place of SM during it's five issue run.
Since the book takes place in the same little spot of New Orleans that makes sense

Personally I'd tack on Matt Kindt to that short list of vital writers (also no offence intended to the other talented writers either), I think between his work on Unity & the way RAI is looking, he will be a key universe builder.betterthanezra wrote:What was confirmed was simple VEI will continue to put out 9 titles a month each month, if that mean mini-series or maxi series so be it. I agree with you on Kindt and with his hand on Rai I think he is moving into that direction like Dysart and Venditti he isn't quite there yet but right on the cusp.grendeljd wrote:Personally I'd tack on Matt Kindt to that short list of vital writers (also no offence intended to the other talented writers either), I think between his work on Unity & the way RAI is looking, he will be a key universe builder.betterthanezra wrote:What was confirmed was simple VEI will continue to put out 9 titles a month each month, if that mean mini-series or maxi series so be it. I'm on the fence with FVL I LOVED LOVED LOVED his A&A but think about it. He really doesn't stick very long on a title so for him being on A&A as long as he has is quite a BIG deal. But his effluence outside of that title keeps him just on the outside looking in...again this is my opinion.

Re: Speculation on which titles are continuing and how
Agreed - as Unity progresses (especially with the Dr Silk story arc), it feels like he cares deeply about the setting & characters while also being very capable as a storyteller. I think RAI will be a defining contribution to VEI lore, I'm very excited for it. Ultimately, I think if he wants to stay at VEI long term, he will be as important as V-Ditty & Dysart.betterthanezra wrote:I agree with you on Kindt and with his hand on Rai I think he is moving into that direction like Dysart and Venditti he isn't quite there yet but right on the cusp.grendeljd wrote:Personally I'd tack on Matt Kindt to that short list of vital writers (also no offence intended to the other talented writers either), I think between his work on Unity & the way RAI is looking, he will be a key universe builder.betterthanezra wrote:What was confirmed was simple VEI will continue to put out 9 titles a month each month, if that mean mini-series or maxi series so be it. Yeah, if we see more of a cross-pollination of his big ideas into the other titles, (the ones that build up the history & future of the universe), then his importance will be cemented. Amazing that he has couched all those brilliant bits into a buddy comedy book.betterthanezra wrote:I'm on the fence with FVL I LOVED LOVED LOVED his A&A but think about it. It just means "something that flows out of something" but yes it's usually associated with a pipe poisoning a river or something with some form of dookie or other hazardous waste.jmatt wrote:I was thinking the same thing. Absolutely tack on Matt Kindt - his UNITY and RAI (come next week!) added to his BLOODSHOT #0 make him very important to the make-up of this shared universe. I can actually see him writing a Bloodshot ongoing too post Unity...that would be cool.grendeljd wrote:Personally I'd tack on Matt Kindt to that short list of vital writers (also no offence intended to the other talented writers either), I think between his work on Unity & the way RAI is looking, he will be a key universe builder.betterthanezra wrote:What was confirmed was simple VEI will continue to put out 9 titles a month each month, if that mean mini-series or maxi series so be it.
