Thanks for the scoop! That's better news than I anticipated.

I suspect the current bidders, if they're experienced art collectors, would have guessed as much - that it's not the final cover art. Pencil cover art was not typical in the old days.

I was slightly concerned that the bottom panel is a paste up. The seller couldn't tell me if it was art.

Some of these prices are insane, and I thought I was bidding high. I couldn't believe what X-O #4 P.11 went for, sure its an iconic 1st appearance but I would have never thought it would break $1100+ In hindsight I wish the Shadowman page was the one I would have bid higher on. Oh well...hopefully someone here got. it.

I mostly wanted the Harby team sunset full page splash as it is both stunning and quite important to our Valiant history.

But that will be another day it seems.

On a somewhat related note - this reinforces to me that the Hulk 180 1st Wolverine page is going sky high! Some were saying it would go less than Kirby's X-Men 1 pages (50k). But that seems insane to me.

It should have gone higher. If the Shadowman page was more Ditko-esque, I think it would have. But didn't look like Ditko did much on it.
