It's a ridiculous sum to spend and I'm a little irked that the movie tie-in has jacked up the price so much. But I was down to my last two issues to complete the entire run (still need #9) and it wasn't gettin' any cheaper. A really beat up reading copy with creases and color-break spine wear is going for $250 to $350. And the nice ones are all starting to get slabbed, so I finally took the plunge.

The one I bought looks about as pristine as any I've seen on Ebay (perfect corners, no wear that I can see), and the seller has a 100% rating with like 10k sales so I'm hoping it was worth it.
I'm also missing #9 now - I put up my #'s 1-20 for sale on consignment at my old LCS to generate some cash when I bought my house, years ago. Sold #1, #9, #12, #13 & #19. I hope someday to get those issues back (especially 12 & 13 with The Controller), in addition to 55.

I hear you on the movie tie-in effect for #55. Very aggravating. Hope your copy turns out to be nice & sharp as promised, at that price.

I just read The Controller arc a few nights ago, funny you should mention it.

Sat down to read again tonight and realized I didn't have #17. :!: Off to Ebay I went... but now, now #9 is all I still need.

I always liked the cover of that one - I drew it once or twice as a teen trying to learn by copying :)
