I was able to pick one up also. This seems pretty cool. Will be my first unique comic book.

I just got mine today. Be warned, they're not bagged and boarded.

Edit: In one of these.

This happened to me when I bought a signed CBLDF Q&W #1. The book was not bagged or boarded and shipped in an envelope just like the one in this thread. The book was almost destroyed.

Yikes. They should have had me handle the shipping for them.

But did it have all the signatures?

Several reports on Facebook of at least two without signatures being mailed out.

Mine was completely unsigned. :(
Different mailer than the one above. A Manila envelope with no bag or board. But a official looking USA luge sticker.

We know one thing is very clear if you don't receive the item you ordered on eBay you get 100% and shipping back just boggles the mind of putting an unsigned copy out to several people who clearly bought a signed one considering this is the only item they have sold on this account.

well, I did get mine today and it was in manilla bubble envelope, and was even put into my regular size mailbox. No 'do not bend' on it or boarded, but with all that only a few dings on the covers and on corner a little (not much worse than i often find comics at my LCS), spine actually good and with all the sigs.
Shame they didn't do better, but hopefully went for a good cause and it's still pretty cool.

So was it Valiant offering these, or the Luge team directly? Did they ship from the Valiant offices?

The description has "Valiant" all over it, and the implication is that Valiant is selling them. "Valiant is offering..." "Valiant has commissioned..." "Valiant designed...." but the seller is USA Luge. I would have thought if Valiant was shipping them, they would be packaged a little better.

Mine isn't marked as shipped yet. I will post the details when I get them.

So I got an email from Beverly at the association. Her email was in my invoice. She said it must have been an oversight, and asked if I'd like the autographed one. I said yes. Will let you guys know if it does in fact arrive.

Got mine and it's signed ... And dinged. Since they charged $5 for shipping they could have done a little better than a bubble mailer, no boards to protect and $1.32 postage.

Image

The mailer didn't seem too smushed but there are some big crinkles down the spine of the book.

Image

Ah, well. If they win one gold medal I will forgive them.

People who spend all their time thinking about luge training probably don't learn about comic book care.
The rules of obsession don't automatically translate across niches.
Think of the books as $25 donations to the olympic team that come with a free autographed team photo and free shipping, and the condition and actual cost of shipping are almost what you'd expect.

Chris, dude you got a sticker? I didn't even get a sticker, got the valiant luge cover with no autographs, jacked up spine cracks, stupid manilla envelope, and their little 1/4 page copy of the ebay information. wt hell is wrong with these people I wonder...

Definitely. I have a good friend that has worked with various Canadian Sport Organizations, and given how close the Olympics are I would assume it's extremely hectic at their offices. Sending out a comic book would probably rank dead last in administrative priorities I'm afraid.
