I guess not many caught this when I brought it up a few weeks ago. Dynamite are some worms not one dime to them I say.

pixierosa wrote:Whether they have the legal rights to the name or not, this whole thing is just plain tacky. Nice try on the "acclaim" subliminal message. I'd have more respect for this relaunch if they didn't use Valiant writers, artists, copy their strategy, and try to use associative word manipulation. It makes them seem like shysters.
At this point I don't know if they are doing all of this solely to make a big splash -- it seems like they partly want to aggravate VEI. Pak is a good writer, Turok is an interesting character. They didn't need to piggyback on VEI or Acclaim. Even if an original (I.e. non-Valiant) campaign by Dynamite didn't make a splashy debut, the series could build momentum. Instead, they've alienated a segment of their target audience by showcasing questionable business morals.
My sentiments exactly, if they had just gone in a new direction I might have given it a go, but this, it's like they're trying to just reprint VH1 Turok, or merely repackage it. And you're right about alienating their core target audience, fans of 90's GK characters

I guess I am in the minority since I plan to read these books.
Dynamite is still shady and this is underhanded but I am curious to see the product.

I'm curious too. But not enough to give Dynamite any of my money.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I'm not Dynamite-curious, and even if I were they wouldn't get any of my money.

I am going to wait for the TPBs to come out on amazon for all of the gold key characters and read those.

Not sure where the notion of trying to invoke Acclaim is seen as a slight to VEI; seems more an attempt to grasp the video game associations than anything.
VEI - I look forward to you one day publishing MORE than 9-10 books per month

Re: Dynamite and Valiant with Turok Dinosaur Hunter
I don't think that is a slight to VEI itself. It just makes Dynamite look like their grasping at straws. Throwing into the pot every single possible link or reference to any past version of the character makes them seem very desperate to me. Like they don't trust how good their own book is. Time will tell I guess.leonmallett wrote:Not sure where the notion of trying to invoke Acclaim is seen as a slight to VEI; seems more an attempt to grasp the video game associations than anything.

Re: Dynamite and Valiant with Turok Dinosaur Hunter
There's a new Pak interview for this on Comicvine... it looks actually pretty good. I don't think Valiant needs the Gold Key characters anyway, so I might try this. Wish it was IDW or BOOM! or something, though. Dynamite, at least in regards to Valiant, are shady.
