With the new Geomances now in place, he would mellow down if Armstrong is correct.Carson wrote:Still looking forward to some EW personality, more than the angry death machine we've seen for two issues now.

Can't believe I forgot to mention this the first time, but did anyone else catch the original VALIANT compass in the Book of the Geomancer? Loved it! Great little Easter egg

Although it's my least favourite of the VEI line I thought this issue was reasonably enjoyable. Kay McHenry's intro is possible the most interesting aspect of the first 6 issues so hopefully she'll feature regularly. The art was good except for the thick black outlines around the characters, I think that detracts from the visuals!
As always with this series, I find some of the minor things bug me. For example, why do they wear the same clothes all the time? Archer still wears his blue t-shirt?? Also, I like the One Percent as a concept but would they really wear those unwieldy masks when firing guns from a boat? Imagine trying to aim? I assume the One Percent are a collection of extremely rich individuals, would they really do the 'dirty work' themselves or are they hired goons shooting at A&A?
2.5 out of 5, not bad but could be so much better.

Great issue!
Love the new Geomancer!
I liked Geoff, but he could be very annoying at times.
Good choice to go with Kay. Plus the Valiant U. needed another great female character.

BWS's A&A always wore the same clothes...XO doesn't change his outfit much either...Dallow Spicer1 wrote:Although it's my least favourite of the VEI line I thought this issue was reasonably enjoyable. Re: Archer & Armstrong #6
This issue was awesome! If it keeps getting better like this, then it may rise from my least favorite title. Kay has now become my favorite supporting character.
VEI has hit it out of the park with awesome female characters. I was already loving Kara and Pulse in Bloodshot. Alyssa is awesome in Shadowman. Obviously, Flamingo, Faith, and Kris are awesome. It speaks volumes that I think Faith is the weakest female character they gave, since she's better than most other companies' females.
XO needs a strong female character. I'd love to see a female enemy. Right now XO is a sausage fest with Aric, Ninjak, and Alexander.
With this issue, Lupacchino is tied with Zircher for my favorite artist.

I rather enjoyed it. I loved Armstrong complaining about being saved by his "little" brother. It's something that anyone with siblings can identify with.

Did you read the original BWS series? If so, did having the same set of clothes bother you back then?Dallow Spicer1 wrote:As always with this series, I find some of the minor things bug me. The 1% are meant to be ridiculous which is why the masks are fine with me. I also imagine that they would do the dirty work themselves because they are a secret group. If they hire goons, the secret would go out.
It's a comic book. It exists in a world where guns can be half the size of a man, where Darth Vader can be an excellent swordsman despite a ridiculous mask, where Hawkeye can hit three targets with one shot.

Not to mention they are obsessed with profit. So why would they pay someone to do a job they could do for free? Or at least pay themselves to do it...erwinrafael wrote:Did you read the original BWS series? I'm not one to see VH1 through rose tinted spectacles, for me VH3 (mostly) is far superior (with some notable VH1 exceptions), so for me detail matters whether it be VH1, Acclaim or VH3. It just seems unnecessary, it's like as if we (as readers) wouldn't be able to recognise the characters if they changed clothes!? The fact the one of them wears winters clothes and the other wears summer clothes is poor character design planning IMHO.BugsySig wrote:Not to mention they are obsessed with profit. As for the 1%...they could a) spend a few dollars on hired goons and avoid any personal risk? or b) save a few dollars but risk death by taking on A&A, Eternal Warriors et al?..I know which one I'm picking

All that said, I appreciate the healthy debate, we all want Valiant to succeed but we've got different ideas on what it takes to maximise the chances of the books' success. Although it's my least favourite title, A&A seems to be getting a lot of positive reviews on Twitter and for that I'm pleased.

Well they were both wearing winter gear in the Himalayas. But the winter clothing on Armstrong question makes sense. Perhaps his immortality has messed with his body temp? Or maybe he's just like my wife, who wraps a blanket around herself in AugustDallow Spicer1 wrote:I'm not one to see VH1 through rose tinted spectacles, for me VH3 (mostly) is far superior (with some notable VH1 exceptions), so for me detail matters whether it be VH1, Acclaim or VH3.
