From a marketing standpoint, I think Bloodshot would be a good first entry into cinema. People unfamiliar with Valiant might think that Bloodshot is somewhat like Punisher and they wouldn't be far off. But factor in the nanites and other characteristics and you have a fresh look at that sub-genre.
Iron Man has two movies and the recent Avengers. A man in a metal suit has been played out recently despite the differences between X-O and Iron Man. Moreover a third Iron Man movie is in the works. Might be a hard sell for the public.
We've had four X-Men movies made about a team of super heroes. Factor in too the recent Chronicles about a group of under-20's who have telekinetic powers. Again, somewhat played out at the moment.
A dark-themed Shadowman flick could work. Totally original and hasn't over-used in the theatres.

Re: Valiant? How about... NEW. YORK. TIMES!!!
This was a really great article and fantastic coverage for Valiant in the mainstream press, you literally can't buy this kind of editorial. I'm so glad that Valiant seems to have a gameplan in place and is really dedicated to putting out some quality products, the fact that movies could soon be in the works is just amazing and things just seem to be falling nicely into place for the publisher. Hopefully they keep up the good work and keep pumping out quality comic books and move closer and closer to the coveted #3 position in the American comic book market, I have the feeling that within a few years time they could be right on the cusp if not already there.

Ah, I missed that. I picked up my copy of the New York Times just a minute ago and MAN have papers gotten expensive. $2.50 for that scrawny paper is ridiculous! No wonder print is dying.tchalla8 wrote:This was at the bottom of the online article.

Push was a very underrated movie. I loved it. It definitely had the potential for lots of really cool sequels. But then again, my friend once told me that he would never trust me for a movie recommendation after I told him I liked Bedazzled with Brendan Fraser.Zaphod wrote:I liked Push...Chiclo wrote:Don't forget the forgettable Push from a few years ago. I remember Raquel Welch in a bikini and Dudley Moore but I think Liz Hurley would have been a bit young for all that.tchalla8 wrote:Wait. My thinking as well. As I mentioned in another thread, remember the Spawn movie? MacFarlane was THE hottest thing going back then and still couldn't get a great movie.R Daneel wrote:Yea that is what I am thinking/hoping. This talk about 5 movies has me nervous. For pete's sake, they don't even have three titles out yet. I hope Cuneo isn't rushing for the brass ring.

No movies are actually the bread and butter of the industry today. Thay want to make movies and make them good because the royalties from the movies and merchandise would far outweigh the profits from the comics, plus it would draw in a surge of new readers.jmatt wrote:My thinking as well. VEI is definitely banking on making good movies. And it looks like they will pull it off as long as they have creative control over the stories and script. They have already shown they have the chops when it comes to finding talent and bringing it all together.
I see amazing things in the next few years coming.

I'm sorry, but as long Brett Ratner is involved with Harbinger quality is going to be a question.Aram wrote:No movies are actually the bread and butter of the industry today. FYI: One update to the article:
"This article has been revised to reflect the following correction:
Correction: July 9, 2012
An earlier version of this article, because of incorrect information supplied by Valiant, erroneously identified two Hollywood business figures, Sidney Ganis and Tom Sherak, as members of its board. "

Its not hate. He's just notoriously mediocre. He really doesn't have a stellar movie on his resume.

If he did a Harbinger like that, I'd probably like it too... in the theater alone.
