I think it's kind of tacky but...hey, it's honestly his book to sell. If he can sleep at night, good for him.

Well he actually says "Sold via Private Message (but do have one similar one that I can sell if anyone else is interested)"Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:According to that it's sold. Move along! Nothing to see here!zoso20 wrote:hmmmm![]()

That's actually a board member's copy and he just has it up to gauge interest. I assure you that dhudson1 has NO intention of letting that book go.Pariah wrote:Sooo saaad:tchalla8 wrote:I think that's going to wind up on the low end before all is said and done.

All in all, even if he does sell it, big deal. People get stuff to flip all the time. Personally I applaud him if it does. My problem and many other peoples problem is with the original poster strolling in here selling his wares. As Greg so nicely put it.Tim wrote:That's actually a board member's copy and he just has it up to gauge interest. 4) If you're just here to sell your stuff, be prepared to be
treated like a vacuum cleaner salesman crashing a family reunion.
Someone may actually be interested, but you would do better to join the family a while
BEFORE you start asking Uncle Buford and Aunt Betty for a loan.

True, I am not wanting to sell it, that is why I listed at a super high price. Just wanted to see the views it would get.Pariah wrote:Oh then my apologies for the post, I actually read the add over and it makes sense why he would list it!!! I am just jealous I don't have one myself!!!Tim wrote:

Is it weird that I probably wouldn't even pay $2 for this if I didn't see it sketched or at least have a coa from a place I trusted?

It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

Nah. I am always of the belief that the experience made it more worthwhile. I wouldn't pay extra for a CGC signed book, and probably wouldn't buy one without one, either. But, I would have someone sign a book - take a pic - then never sell it. It's the experience - meeting, getting that makes it worthwhile.Aram wrote:Is it weird that I probably wouldn't even pay $2 for this if I didn't see it sketched or at least have a coa from a place I trusted?

Yeah, I don't care about flipping, I just think the asking price is a bit insane... especially for a first poster.
But what do I know.

I don't think it is a flipping issue or a selling issue (LOTS of sales on the board), just a drop by and make a quick buck issue. But maybe the general attitude of the board has changed and this type of thing is not as bothersome. I can tell you back in the 'hay....... this thread would have wound up in TO. No doubt.etos45 wrote:Aha! Now I get the "vacuum cleaner" thing.Rubiks-Q-Bert wrote:All in all, even if he does sell it, big deal. People get stuff to flip all the time. It's the people. We don't have a lot of the same people around that would send this into TO anymore. I don't mind flipping, I would do it. But yes it's the issue of some noob out to make a buck. I initially came to this board for that reason and I was treated much the same way that all the other vacuum salesmen have been treated around here. If he sticks around, great. If he's just out to make his quick buck and split, well I wish slym was here too.Elveen wrote:I don't think it is a flipping issue or a selling issue (LOTS of sales on the board), just a drop by and make a quick buck issue. I agree with Etos45 and Elveen. Some guys just sign up here and the first post is about selling something.
Some people.
Dhudson1, you might not have any intention of selling the book, but I will not be surprised if this sells even at a high price.
Back in May, I listed a XO Manowar #1 set for a high price of $199. Without the intention of actually selling it, surprisingly someone actually bought it.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-O-MANOWAR-1-1 ... 3f1753d264" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
To this day, this was my only 1:50 and 1:20 book and I missed out on sending the QR Dino.

Re: WTS: X-O ManoWar/Harbinger Sketch Cover - Sketched by No
As I just recently posted in another thread (concerning obtaining an Amazing Spiderman #149 before it shot up in price), the experience (even with the accumulation of the collection) is what makes it fun for me. I was so glad when I found this forum 2 years ago when I had some time off work (in between jobs actually). I really thought I was the only one in the world who even remembered that Valiant existed. I had no idea there were so many devoted fans. I was also so happy to make some great purchases from board members for comics I never dreamed I would own. I had a very busy 2 years after my initial joining (new job, new house, new baby, lots of problems with said job) and I missed a lot. The relaunch sent me running back here as I now have time to post and read more. I've almost completed my VH1 set (thanks mostly to ckb
) and I love the conversations here. The thought of selling any of my collection would sadden me verily.

*SQUEE* your science, I have a machine gun.

When the first post is from a person wanting to sell something that's two days old... Something that a person had no intent of keeping. Something that more than likely was worked on instead of talking with Greg, in the name of $40...
That qualifies, right?
