The one comic book store in the Texas Panhandle, Big Apple Comics, quit participating in FCBD a couple of years ago. It's a great comic book store and I highly recommend anyone in Amarillo drop by but the owner has similar laments to what has been mentioned previously. He also hates having to clean up the books from the parking lot once people have come by and thrown them away. He does pull out his leftover stock of FCBD books and put them back out, though.

The LCS in Lubbock, some 120 miles to the south, does participate in FCBD. They have been putting together a Lubbock comic-con in May on FCBD and last year everything feel into place. They held it inside the Lubbock Arts Festival. It wasn't a great comic book show but there were hordes of people there getting free comics that would not otherwise have.

Now that's just plain sh!tty. No wonder he's disheartened with FCBD.

What would be the cost of each of FCBD books from either horizon comics or daydreams? I'm looking for lowest shipped cost and would be likely to irder multiple copies.

I won't know the price point until the next Previews comes out in the beginning of January. But from that point I have a month to get my order ready, so we all have plenty of time to figure out the details.

I just think it may be hard for some to locate this issue, and it would be good to have a reliable source for some through eBay for those fans who may be shutout locally. :thumb:

I'm looking for a reliable source myself where I could lock in a few genuine NM copies and get them expediently. Multiple sources would be cool. :thumb:

I know I'll have a reader set of anything Dark Horse puts out in their Gold Key line, and two or three sets to collect. I haven't actually collected anything new in a long time. :thumb:

I know I am late on this but I was wondering if you are still able to order extra FCBD books for me and what the shipping would be?
Thanks!

I sent Roger a link to this thread a while back. Let me see if I can get clarification from him on what he's doing regarding selling these through eBay.

Here's a response I just received from Roger of horizoncomics regarding this thread and making the Dark Horse FCBD Magnus Solar book available to board members here who may need it.
If you're still interested under these terms, please respond below this post to let us know you're still interested and how many copies you'll want through horizoncomics. Thanks.

Hi Mark, my apologies for not stopping by to say Hi to everyone there - we've had a lot going on. Anyway, we'll have about 50 additional copies of the Magnus/Solar FCBD set aside for the guys there - but if you think we'll need more just let me know and I'll increase our order. Since you've so graciously shared us with that group, our plan is to provide free copies to anyone that wants them from that site. The only payment that would be required would be shipping, as follows: 1 copy $2.35 First Class; 2-3 copies $3.35 First Class; 4-5 copies $5.25 Priority. We would like to limit the quantity of free comics to 5, since we are (at best) breaking even on this deal. The comics would come bagged and boarded and NM or better condition. If there's anything I'm forgetting or you have additional questions or concerns just let me know.
Best Regards,
Roger

I realize it could be too complicated to send internationally, but if they do I'll gratefully take five.

I am very interested in this deal. How do I go about securing my copies with horizoncomics? (Yes, I was one of those who responded back in December saying I would be interested in buying from horizoncomics.)

Thanks,
Ron

I'll check with horizon in a day or two and let you guys know how to pay. I'll check into international shipping for you, magnusr.

Most likely I'll be posting Horizon's email address in this thread and you guys can contact them via email with your requests. Let them know you're a memebr here, of course. At that point they'll probably send you a Paypal invoice.
Magnusr, I've got your request in and should be letting you know something soon.

I am just curious.... are people buying these on ebay and such because they don't have a LCS by them?

That's one reason I believe people might be interested in buying them through horizon. I personally am interested to make sure I actually get locked in on genuinely NM or better bagged and boarded copies.
