Maybe we should add a new "Dark Horse" section to the board since it looks like some of our favorite "Valiant" characters will be produced by someone else long before "Valiant" actually does anything with theirs :!:

Seriously though ... maybe a Dark Horse section to the board :thumb: and maybe Valiant to the dead universe? :P

Nice looking logos. I hope they'll add painted variant covers to the new line too. 8-)

It is on the first 20 or so issues of the Valiant run.

It was Magnus on the GK run.

Doing painted covers would be cool, but I don't care for the old campy looking logos.

I'm kind of digging the retro look to them. Maybe some added shadows on the letters would help.

The campy logos and painted covers are part of the whole package.

Gold Key and Dell books are lots of fun. The title boxes and painted monster cover art work well alongside the campy 60s sci-fi stories.

I hope they can get Doug Wheatley to draw some painted monster covers for the Mighty Samson line.
Here's some of his cover art from Dark Horse:

He's real good at drawing giant exotic/creatures for books. :thumb:

And Raymond Swanland too:

Or Vince Evans, who did the painted Acclaim covers.

I prefer Wheatley as an interior artist.

I would prefer they do something like the original logos Valiant started with. Sort of a combo of both old and new.

This is really great news!!! (Except for my pocketbook...sigh...)

I hope Jim Shooter gets to stay a LONG time this time and tell the stories he wants to tell.

Wow, Mighty Samson...makes me wish Valiant had tackled that one. Oh, well.

Oh, and great idea from the above poster about a Dark Horse board.

There's a new press release posted on the Dark Horse site:

http://www.darkhorse.com/Press-Releases ... 2-04-07-10

Jim Shooter and Mike Richardson To Attend C2E2!

04/07/10
LEGENDARY CREATORS JIM SHOOTER AND MIKE RICHARDSON TO RE-INTRODUCE FANS TO THESE ICONIC SUPERHEROES

MILWAUKIE, OR (APRIL 12, 2010) -- Dark Horse and Classic Media announced today that this weekend’s C2E2 convention will be the launch for the much-anticipated new Gold Key Comics program. Fans will have the chance to meet Dark Horse President Mike Richardson and creator Jim Shooter, and gain insider information on what to expect from this summer’s upcoming releases. News of the line was first announced at San Diego Comic Con International 2009, and fans have been anxiously awaiting details ever since.

“Jim and I share a great affection for these terrific characters. We have some very exciting ideas on how to introduce them to a whole new generation of fans.” said Mike Richardson, president of Dark Horse Comics. “C2E2 is just the beginning.”

“I've done this long enough to know when it feels right -- and it does -- so there's a chance, at least, that it is. I stand on the shoulders of giants like Manning, Newman and Du Bois,” said Jim Shooter. “On top of that I've had terrific support from Mike Richardson and Senior Editor Chris Warner, plus great art from Bill Reinhold and Dennis Calero. Overture, curtain, lights...!”

In addition, throughout the C2E2 weekend, Dark Horse will announce the creative teams and more titles in the works for Gold Key. Then, the new line will kick off in print only a few weeks later, on Saturday, May 1st, as part of Free Comic Book Day, and fans can look for exciting promotional Apps on iTunes in early May.

Doctor Solar, the first title in the line, will arrive in stores this summer!
