1993.... it's issue #2 from the first mini series.SnotDrip wrote:what year did it come out??lobo wrote:The Deadpool #2 CGC 10 is going up for auction BTW. Right now is probably the peak market for anything Deadpool before the Wolverine movie comes out.
Does anyone have any census values for this book? I have no real good guess what this book could be sold for...

I'd be tempted to just let that one run to market. There's very little GPA data, with some sales in the $50 range for 9.8s.lobo wrote:1993.... it's issue #2 from the first mini series.SnotDrip wrote:what year did it come out??lobo wrote:The Deadpool #2 CGC 10 is going up for auction BTW. If I was going to tag it with a BIN/Best Offer, $500 sounds OK to me.

Yea I was afraid that few copies in the census that the sales history would be sketchy. I'm thinking, like you suggested, that a BIN and best offer may be the way to go. I have been complaining to the LCS owners in my area about how they mangle their current issues while on the shelves. One store has a clerk doing the counts for them that bends the most forward issue to count the issues behind it. I asked her not to bend the comics and she responded.."It doesn't matter, most of the comics come bent in the boxes from Diamond anyway."ckb wrote:Getting 10%+ of your sub back as 9.9s and 10s is, well, extremely unusual to say the least. Add in the fact that these are 90's books, and well it's pretty much.
I have to think that if many of these were untouched overstock the Canadian guys must treat their overstock much better than the US guys. We treat it like dirt.
Or they came out of speculator hoards where everything was treated well.

I would say about 60% of their back issues are in VG/F condition. They have the nerve to wonder why their back issues won't sell. The owner tries to have frequent sales but the sales never make a significant dent in the amount of back issues they have.
I have to wait for local conventions to pick up any comics that would be 9.8 worthy.
IMHO that will drive some potential buyers away and incur high pre-auction fees. Start out with .99 cents for a 7 day auction (.35 cents with one pic for one category). You may want to extend it to a 10 day auction for a nominal fee. Multiple pics can be added via photobucket at no additional cost. Ebay bidders don't like to "buy" anything, they like to "win". How will you know what the potential value is when you attempt to set the value? Even though the high buy-it-now scheme could be used just to get some serious offers in , it still would potentially alienate some serious bidders. Nothing runs up the value of a rare item like a bidding war.maraxusofkeld wrote:Considering its a 10.0, I'd probably start with a buy it now at $500 some with a best offer option.
You have a great inventory. It will be fun watching these auctions. Keep us posted.

^Great point. But make sure you set a reserve.KO2003 wrote:IMHO that will drive some potential buyers away and incur high pre-auction fees. Well you make valid points, there is definitely some good and bad with either doing a 99 cent auction or going with a high BIN. To be honest, it has been years since I've ran an auction on eBay and I'm unfamiliar with the fees that a BIN auction incurs. All my auctions in the past have started at 99 cents and I've done pretty good so.....KO2003 wrote:IMHO that will drive some potential buyers away and incur high pre-auction fees. It's just when selling a niche item like a modern CGC 10 you hope the reward is much greater than the risk. And in this economy right now it's very hard to say how things will go.
Right now I'm watching other CGC 9.9 and CGC 10 auctions to get a rough idea how things are selling.

Incidentally, I received my second CGC batch last week. 70 odd books went in under a 9.6 pre-screen. Hi-lights include:
9.8
XO Manowar #68
Harbinger #41
Unity 2000 #2
Troublemakers #1 painted
Quantum and Woody #0
Ninjak #1 vol.2 painted x5
.... and numerous G.I. Joe books including #155 CGC 9.8! I'm personally very pleased with this book as it came from my personal collection when it was newsstand fresh back in the day and probably read once or twice! I thought 9.6 grade was definite but a 9.8 was touch and go. Well now I don't have to pay $800 for somebody else's copy!
