why line the pockets of another mega corporate machine? For the cover price? After my lifetime membership discount at my LCS it will be cheaper to buy from my LCS AND boost the economy for my local area!!

I think you are referring to monthly pamphlets since new comics have been included with each hardcover. In that case, I'm sorry you misunderstood. Read more carefully next time.

It sucks that "new comics" cost $24.95 now for like 8 pages. Do you plan to collect these stories at some point and put into a single issue (which is what I consider a "comic")?
The deluxe hardcover collections of the first major story arcs for Harbinger, X-O Manowar and Archer & Armstrong cost $24.95. The new stories, behind the scenes material, script etc are supplemental.

The concern is with collecting the short stories as single issues is that it alienates those who both the hardcovers solely for the new material. Once sufficient time has passed it is quite likely that the new stories will be reprinted in a different form. In the case of Harbinger: The Beginning printing the Origin of Harada story separately as a promotional item similar to the gold books was considered.

Its easier to use pamphlets to specify single issues with new content. Comics is a little more vague.

Contract that sentence a little and it is ripe for a Brit-style double entendre. And therefore for quoting...

Were the remarks to jedi deserved? Maybe, since jedi has a boner for irrititating DNV. No clue why. But the remarks took me aback compared to what I've become used to seeing from Dino since DNV came about. The "pamphlet" thing was kind of odd too. I have come to terms with the use of the word "monthlies" and after a while, even "floppies", but no way in hell am I ready to refer to my comics as "pamphlets". :o To me, it's comics, trades and HCs. :?

Cool. I understand not putting out "pamphlets" collecting the new stories right now, but it's good to hear that it's a possibility. I bought the first 2 and will probably buy the A&A because it was my favorite, but I, like many others, I'd imagine, have to choose what I spend money on more wisely nowadays. So it's encouraging to hear that I may be able to read the new stories that I can't afford through "pamphlets" or maybe "mega-pamphlets" (is that what we'd call a tpb?) one day.

I feel that the comments to jedimarley were harsh.

I was making a joke, sorry if it didn't come across. No offence meant, and apologies if any offence was taken. :)

I am with you on the pamphlets issue. It is somewhat disparaging to the medium, in essence underscoring the prioritisation of the collected editions. There is no perjorative in dictionary definitions of the word 'pamphlet', but I found the odd usage to mean that it was some how lesser than a hardcover book. Now Dino may not have intended that, but it is a consequence of his post in my view or at least my own interpretation. A minor quibble, but still a small concern.

dude, why do I need to bring a thesaurus to a message board conversation. GAH!

That and Google is uncertain that 'perjorative' is a word and Google has never lied to me before so you, good sir, or simply making up words to confound the issue. Or pamphlet. Can we all agree on 'periodical publication'? I can grasp that.
What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

I misspelt the word: should be pejorative.

Mega-Pamphlets. LOL. You should trademark that now before Marvel starts using the term.

to me pamphlet sounds too much like brochure. I have a feeling if I tell someone I'm going to the shop to pick up some pamphlets, they'll probably think I'm going on a trip or opening a new checking account. :?

Marvel has been referencing monthly comics as "pamphlets" for quite awhile now.
Why does everyone got their panties in a wad?
