To answer the question you need to analyze who compromises the culture based on what we've seen of it and what we know about them.cjv wrote:IMO, resistance can come from two directions: any individual our group that feels it is being treated unfairly by the powers that be, OR any individual or group that has some moral, ethical, or intellectual objection to the actions of the powers that be. Both of these arelikely to initiate a resistance movement. So you have to look at their culture and society - what class of spider alien, or what caste within the system is likely to feel short changed, or which group might feel that the actions by the leaders are simply wrong.
I wonder if they have any sort of "librarian" caste, keepers of knowledge, or something like that? They might be more likely to have some objections. Or that janitor caste.
But of course, if their entire society has been oriented on protecting plants, preserving the spider-alien way of life, it may be difficult to find anyone who would break out of that mold.
Chris
We have the religious cast, the First-Among Equals.
We have the gladiators, like the one Aric fought on the moon.
We have the soldiers.
We have the hybrids.
Are there any more? If yes, what do they do and why haven't we met them? Are they "civilians", or is the entire culture divided between those sub groups?
If so, which one of those groups would be the most likely to rebel against the powers that be (the First Among Equals)?
The gladiators are way too dumb.
The soldiers never rebel in large numbers.
So that leaves the hybrids, the outcasts of the society. The ones that were "selected" to undergo the process that turned them into disgusting creatures.

But not necessarily a monarchy, that's a little cliche. It's almost like every alien race in sci fi is a monarchy (except for in V, where the Leader was a political leader who was elected through diplomacy and then turned his term into a regime, like Palpatine did in Star Wars).robb77 wrote:for a race that can do interstellar travel and all sorts they must be more advanced than that. There has to be a higher class
What other options are there besides a monarchy or democracy?

I don't know. I think it works.robb77 wrote:especially sting afeter issue 25 they reaally f@cked it up
Heroes succumbing to the dark side is a classic aspect of the mythology of a hero, and Pete becoming the Harbinger fits that.
Ignoring it would do the character a disservice, while respecting it can lead to some interesting stories, like how can he look at Faith in the eyes again after he killed Sam, her friend.
This could be incorporated into his departure, as seen in Rai 0. Maybe he recoveres from it, or maybe he doesn't. It be interesting to see the path the character takes.

I'm not sure about that either. Leaving his fate a mystery adds to the mistique of the character.robb77 wrote:this is the best charater Valiant have come out with it was such a pit to finish with him. there must be a story about him since rai 0 and his offspring
Never knowing what ultimately happens to Pete Stanchek makes him stand out from all the other characters in the VALIANT Universe.
When Rai 0 came out, VALIANT had eight ongoing series.
Those eight were Magnus, Solar, Harbinger, X-O Manowar, Rai, Shadowman, Eternal Warrior, and Archer & Armstrong.
Rai 0 told us that Solar would split in two, while Magnus: Invasion showed us that he would "die (yeah, right...) fighting the Spider Aliens.
Rai 0 said that Aric would die in battle against Harada, while Faith from Harbinger would lead the resistence. It then went on to say that Shadowman would die riding the world of the Darque Power, Harada would kill Archer, and Armstrong would leave Earth.
Since Rai 0 took place in the future, we can discount Magnus and Rai (whose stories reached their end in their own series), while Gilad's - apparent - end was covered in Magnus during the Malev War (and after it, when Aram lead us to think that he was still alive in 4020).
That leaves Pete Stanchek as the only VALIANT character whose end was never covered anywhere. His destiny is a true question mark, and I think it should stay like that because knowing what happens to him might cheapen the mystery.

i dont think it will cheapen the mystery. sting is what made valiant and personally i stoped buying valiant after this if thsi is kept
open it wil be a disapoitment

I wouldn't worry too much. Pete's departure didn't happen till 205? something. When VEI does new comics, I'm sure he'll be part of them.robb77 wrote:i dont think it will cheapen the mystery. sting is what made valiant and personally i stoped buying valiant after this if thsi is kept i the open it wil be a disapoitment
Since it's a given that the new comics will take place in the present (2008-9. It wouldn't be logical for VEI to publish comics set in the mid 90's) , he probably won't be a teenager anymore, so the question is whether he'll retain the experiences from post 25 and Visitor or just replace them with new ones.

No, I don't. I don't know any more than everyone else does.robb77 wrote:do you have any news on what valiant reality will be continuing sine the hardbacks are just wasting time and i dont undertand why sting lost his powers (gay) and harada didnt
I can tell you that Pete didn't loose his powers permanently. He got them back sometime after Harbinger #25 and before Harbinger Files #2, at which point Harada had erased his memory and fooled him into becoming the Harbinger, an enforcer who believed that Harada was his "father".
By the time of Visitor 13 Pete got his memories back as well and reunited with Flamingo, then the two of them along with Chan went to find Faith.
