A&A was always a favorite of mine, really enjoyed the humor of the book, which was something the rest of the early VALIANT line lacked.

For sure. Myabe this Shooter story is a Harbinger of things to come.

Maybe they will put out a collection of Unity books with a new story about Erica Pierce. :D

I would think at some point, they would re-print Chapters 1-18 of Unity in 2 or 3 HC's. But if they reprint Unity in regular titles like A&A, that's a lot of cross-reprinting!

Not a huge A&A fan, but definitely good news. I do find the inclusion of #1 and 2 strange. Those two make little sense if taken out of the context of Unity.

Dust jacket text is nice, but it just seems to me like a hardcover collection really needs an introduction essay to complete the package.
Great idea!

PS, looking forward to the hardcover

PPS, how does a new sect-formation story fit in with A&A 25? (it was published after all)

:hm:
Both of the new stories in the previous hardcovers have expanded on a story that already existed to some degree, I imagine that this story will be similar.
True. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Hopefully they'll do something to increase the hype in San Diego.

“The Formation of the Sect”, by original series creator Jim Shooter and artists Sal Velluto and Bob Almond, tells the long-awaited story of how and why Armstrong has been pursued by this secret organization all these years.
This is going to be a great creative team. Looking forward to this. :thumb:

Of course. Please spread the news far and wide, its often the biggest obstacle for the hardcovers.

The Unity parts of the story just don't fit.

I wasn't a fan of X-0#0 being after 1-6 in Birth and as much as I love A&A, this announcement doesn't excite me as there doesn't seem to be a cohesive arc there.

Just seems like cashing in for cashing in's sake. Considering this collection I already do have (save the new story) I am probably going to pass on this one.

Have to wonder if they are purposefully avoiding Rai (which made the most sense to me to go next) and if so, why?
What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

Magnus.

They can't really go ahead and do an hc of the first five-six issues of the Rai ongoing without first reprinting the flipbooks, which feature Magnus heavily as well as require the half of the story that appeared in his half of the issue... and you can't reprint that half without first reprinting Steel Nation.

That explains why they didn't do Rai. As for why they didn't do Shadowman, it probably was because there were only three issues before Unity, so they went with the next title in the release schedule, which was Archer & Armstrong (which began one month before Eternal Warrior and Unity with the zero issue).

They probably released Archer & Armstrong because it was one of the most popular titles back in the day, and one of the titles that people remember fondly today.

In other words, because it is smart business.
