I also think it should be a standard RPG style game as long as it isn't a kick in the door hack and slash style of play as that kind of stuff bores the *SQUEE* out of me.

Online games really aren't my thing. I find that while they have a lot of scope they lack in variety. All the games I have played online ended up being glorified chat rooms for me as you really don't have to think about what you are doing.

It didn't work for Acclaim Comics :)
Acclaim's decision to incorporate the characters might have been successful if they hadn't have made the decision to completely change or alter what had already been established as pretty damn good stuff. I wonder if there wasn't already an established Valiant Universe for everyone to love and draw stories from if Acclaim comics not have done better. Turok and Shadowman were both very enjoyable games in my opinion.

Fun topic, btw. :thumb:

Ditto, both of those games were top notch.

As far as the comics, I didn't like what they did with characters in the beginning, Turok was too juvenile and Shadowman was way too dark. Once they worked out some things though, I really enjoyed them. The premises of both were very interesting to me. Shadowman with the ability to go between Deadside and our world and Turok with the Light Burden.

I agree. I definately would've bought some of their titles if they hadn'y totally changed the characters.

Well, the reason why I thought Harbinger SHOULD be made into an online game is simply because of all the characters and options you'd have available with multiple character comics that you wouldn't have with single characters like Shadowman and Turok.

Not to mention different levels and powers people can have. I thought it was a perfect fit for that particular kind of game.

But I guess you can do a lot of cool things with a standard RPG game. :?

'Sides, who says you can't do both? Is there a way to have a game capable of single or multi-player as well as online gaming?

X-Men Legends 2 had an online mode. No reason they couldn't incorporate something similar.

The X-men Legends and Marvel Ult Alliance games were far to limited in what you could actually do. Hack and slash relies too much on big levels and a lot of button mashing to take away the fact that they are just *SQUEE*. there is not enough to do.

Game Dev 1: "Go there, kill that, go there, kill that, go there, kill...

Game Dev 2: "No we've already had them do that, why don't we add a bit of Variety?

Game Dev 1: "Go there, smash a bit of scenery?"

Game Dev 2: "Yeah I like that but then what?"

Game Dev 1: "Go there, kill that. They won't notice they've done it before as there has been a break"

Game Dev 2: "Then how about go there pick that up?"

Game Dev 1: "Oh I don't know about that....Ok but just this once but then go there, kill that."

What happened to the idea of gameplay?
