By the way, Valiant fans are fortunate to have Greg as caretaker of this domain. I sometimes wonder how much bank Greg could make if he chose to exploit this site for financial gain, but he runs it in the best interests of the comic book universe he loves, and my hat's off to him for that.

Yeah Greg runs one of the best comics forums on the net. Alot of credit is due also to Slym, Hobo, and Jedi. These guys make this a very entertaining website. I know I didnt name everyone but I am a noob here and these are some of the names that ring a bell because of their funny post. Thanks goes out to everyone from the BUDSHAD. :thumb:

Yes, that was Kingpin. You could pick a dollar amount to spend every month (in the hundreds) and they would "invest" it into multiple copies of "hot" comics that month. When you were ready to sell they would pay you 50% of what they were worth. You never actually saw the comics, though you had the option if you wanted to pay for shipping.

I remember their big sales pitch for it included examples of how much money others had made. All their examples were from the beginning of Valiant, where they purchased multilpy copies of the early #1's and sold them for a killing 6 months later.

When they went under the wouldn't return anyones money, but they did send out a list of books you could purchase with the money they owed you. It was all the books they had bought from their "investors". Lots of image, common valiants and stupid 90's stuff no one wanted.

I was just buying my monthly comics from them, but I was so disgusted by what they were doing and so unimpressed with the list of available books, I ordered nothing and lost about $25.

A month or two before they went under they had a big newsletter article with the topic, "what's a better investment, Silver Age or recent books?" Seems easy right? Using early Valiants as the main example, they "proved" that it's better to invest in recent comics (1994) than Silver Age. I was only 18, but when I read that I knew they were full of crap.

So why did I keep sending them money? :idontknow:
