That plot is too good for a Deathmate story...Brother J wrote:Shoot, I thought VIP had poached the rights to Little Lulu, as well...betterthanezra wrote:No of course not....1st Among Equals wrote:is this seriously real?

Was looking forward to the Lulu/Deathmate crossover, where they do a menage a trois with Tubby...

Let's start with VEI.1st Among Equals wrote:could someone explain what VIP is please?
VEI bought all the Valiant characters, stories, images, content, and likenesses
of anything that Valiant ever published in April 2005.
They purchased these at the Acclaim bankruptcy auction
which was announced months prior to April 2005.
Because Acclaim was going bankrupt for a few years, the trademarks
that Valiant properties used were expiring during the bankrupcy
and sorting out the legalities of what would happen to Valiant.
VIP submitted applications for a group of Valiant trademarks on March 31, 2005.
They intend to create comic book products using these names,
but having characters, stories, images, content, and likenesses
like nothing that Valiant ever produced.
VEI has submitted applications for many of the same Valiant trademarks,
in order to associate them with the Valiant characters, stories, images, content, and likenesses
that were Valiant Comics from 1991 until Acclaim folded.
The Trademarks attorneys will determine who (between VEI and VIP) is awarded the trademarks.
Because the trademarks are all just words, these trademarks are only labels.
They will be "legal" to use as titles for the books or character names, but these
trademarks have no bearing on the existing Valiant characters, stories, images,
content, and likenesses. VEI already owns those.
What the courts must decide is which one gets to
publish something CALLED "Harbinger", for example...
even though the content of that publication is already decided.
