This would bring back the fun in comics. But it has a "childish" feel. Here in Sweden we've had tons of clubs like that. I was in some on the 70's. I think the one for the Phantom is still alive, possible qualifying for a discount on a subscription on the comic.MagnusRF wrote:There were a variety of clubs in the 40's, some even stretching into the 50's but not like this. They were more like fan clubs that would send out a ring or a pin and a certificate.

I agree. I have MOST of the variants thanks to a friend, but there are SO many for each issue. If I had to purchase them all for full price through his website I would be a very poor person!Daniel Jackson wrote:Yeah, that's getting a little out of hand now.jedimarley wrote:Yeah. Don't go 'Zoom Suit' crazy with the variants.Maybe, but only as long as they don't go overboard

Makes you wonder if John would have done the same with Valiant.k_c_collectibles wrote:I agree. I have MOST of the variants thanks to a friend, but there are SO many for each issue. If you really want them, wait a while. He'll have to sell them off cheap at some point. Is there any buzz left with this book at all?jedimarley wrote:$100 each for issues 3 and 4 complete sets...PLUS $10 to ship.k_c_collectibles wrote:I agree. Yeah, me too. This seems to have been hype HQ for a little while.MagnusRF wrote:Not that I'm aware of. Keep in mind too, I'm in Arkansas. It's not exactly the hub of the comic universe.400yrs wrote:Yeah, me too. This seems to have been hype HQ for a little while.MagnusRF wrote:Not that I'm aware of. Variants are a doubledged sword....I think they are just a part of the industry at this point. some go NUTS for them, others don't care.
An incentive program would be great. reviving the VVSS in someway would be great (beyond what we do here at vc.com)
Other non comic items would be great like Valiant Entertainment Zippo lighters...stuff like that.

NOT true people at shows ask me Valiant news all the time....Chuck can verify this. Sacramento Comic -con we both set up tables and there were countless people coming up asking us...we were both wearing our SDCC Valiant shirts....They were excited when they seen them.MagnusRF wrote:Not that I'm aware of. I DO NOT EAT, DRINK OR ABSORB SOULS, DAMMIT!
Yup, I was talking about Zoom Suit. I just hate using quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote after quote.X-O HoboJoe wrote:I think MRF meant the Zoom Suit books, brah.betterthanezra wrote:NOT true people at shows ask me VALIANT news all the time....Chuck can verify this. Valiant still gets some play here and there, I'm shocked at how many fans are in my LCS when we bring it up.

Sorry for the multi-post format, I keep thinking stuff up just a little late.
In the interest of full disclosure, I've bought one of each issue (that's issue not cover) of Zoom Suit in the interest of supporting fellow board members. I did wind up with a variant of number one as well since my LCS sold it to me for 35 cents (the cover price).
The series just isn't my cup of tea.
