I had been using Tapatalk 2 (android), but I have been using the Tapatalk 4 beta and just recently upgraded to the official release (it's on sale for $0.99 for a limited time - $4.99 is way too much for it)nycjadie wrote:Totally off topic. What version of Tapatalk do people use?
Both work great, but Tapatalk 4 has a tablet UI when used on a tablet whereas Tapatalk 2 just blows up the phone UI to larger size on a tablet.

I got the free version, although I just found out that it only lets you upload 30 pics for free, then you have to pay $2 for the image hosting service (so I did).nycjadie wrote:Totally off topic. What version of Tapatalk do people use?

Awesome and thank you! I'm not a huge tablet guy (I'm tethered to my phone), so that's helpful info.

5 dollars is what Rittenhouse pays which is standard. The incentive artists get a few bucks more unless they have done some negotiations to be paid more.Rufusharley wrote:How much does the average artist make to do cards like this?

$5?! Like one Abe Lincoln? Or is that a typo? That seems like not worth the time. Starving artist indeed.Justice41 wrote:5 dollars is what Rittenhouse pays which is standard. So tempting to buy a pack.
All the cards have been great.
Like the Armstrong.
Cannot believe the original sketches and colours on such a small space.
Usually things are scaled down.
Their was one Phantom artist who produces artwork in minture and it was enlarged but I can not recall who.
So how is going to ask justice41 first to work on a board project?

Yeah in away it is but depending on skill level and comics property the Artists Proofs we get to sell can make up the difference.jaden_sai wrote:lorddunlow wrote:$5?! Like one Abe Lincoln? If we price right and sell all AP's we can hike up our total take to minimum wage

Is it $5 for each of them, or do you only get paid for the ones that are accepted? If I recall, you had said the Valiant (and presumably others) have to proof the work. If they veto something, did you basically do it for free them?
I agree with others, $5 is pretty damn low.

Re: 2013 Valiant Preview Sketch card thread
yeah only what gets the nod. It's low but you also have to consider they are paying low to get more variety. If they only hired a few artists and paid them well you guys would only get that. RA and other hire over a hundred artists each set. Mostly the same artists. If they paid us more they would have to either eat the costs or jack the price up even more, Printing is expensive as is shipping all the cards all over the world. so even if the pay went up a dollah you guys would feel it or not and the company would go by by.cjv wrote:Justice41 wrote:5 dollars is what Rittenhouse pays which is standard. The board gets comic signed and sells them for charity.
Sometimes additional things are made or presented with the comic to make it more desirable, as the selling point ( cash raised for charity exceeds the valvu of the original comi c.
Anyway, I am really suprised you only make $5 a card.
But sometimes its not about the money.
And from what I have seen the cards are great

Good luck to you.
I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

Re: 2013 Valiant Preview Sketch card thread
It is more than an artist makes on an average BlueWater book. It is work within the comics industry and definitely something that an artist can add to his professional portfolio. It definitely makes sense to me as a way for an up-and-coming artist to help build his career within the industry.lorddunlow wrote:$5?! Like one Abe Lincoln? Or is that a typo? My second one was number 240.
I wonder if we can get a database/page of the various packs and sketches on the site? (Greg?)

Do you think once all the packs sellout that Valiant would release a checklist or something where we could see all 500?

Ok.. been meaning to get this up, but posting pics is a pain for me... here is my sketch from my pack. Not sure who the characters are.. maybe they are new? Something seems familiar about them..

It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

Oh sometimes I and a few other sketch card artists will do live artcasts while we draw some cards or other artworks. This is my setup for when I do artcast. If you like watch a few older casts. http://www.livestream.com/roydraws?t=885981" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
