I was just pulling for any board member. Who knows maybe it was one of the "1 posters" or something. Figured a frequent contributor to the boards wouldn't end up winning, cause we know that the book won't keep that price for long at all and probably more will be coming to market soon as a result of the auction.david_albuq wrote:A shill bid gone bad would be sweet justice, but I doubt it too. I was actually pretty bummed that Zeph didn't win it. I was pulling for him.

I haven't seen a single book come to market after this auction was up for 10+ days total. I think it's a safe bet to say it will hold it's value as long as there is demand and no supply.
And I've seen quite a few people asking for this book so demand is alive and kicking.
I agree with Zeph, Turok Evolution EB Games Variant = Completion for many collectors.

Give it time. 10 days is not "time." The auction just ended a day or two ago to establish a reference point as to the price on the book. Give it time for more (and I only mean a few, not hundreds) to come out. It will probably only take maybe 2 dozen to satisfy demand at THAT PRICE per book considering mark-up. I could be way off though. I believe one was already exchanged (traded) on the boards here.GJB wrote:

Also, keep in mind that the "market" is not just e-bay. I know I'm going to be talking to a contact at EB to see if he can dig any up. I'm sure others have done the same or may do so as a result of the auction. If I find any, they will be sold as I personally have little desire to own this variant while it still can be sold for big bucks.
As far as the completion thing goes, yeah many do want it for completeness. However, there aren't as many people who collect VH2 as opposed to VH1 and the EB variant wasn't even included for "completion" in the inventory lists until recently.
That said, I think I'm done talking about this crappy, but rare book.

hmm, but why? Why is it even on the list. Aren't there other game variants too. I remember someone bought a VH2 or VH3 shadowman lot that had a shadowman game variant no one had seen before but thats not on the list.I agree with Zeph, Turok Evolution EB Games Variant = Completion for many collectors.

Cool, I was afraid I was mistaken about there being a dif book. I'm not too good with my VH2/3 stuff. Do you have the pic the auction listed by any chance?greg wrote:...yet.dino wrote:I remember someone bought a VH2 or VH3 shadowman lot that had a shadowman game variant no one had seen before but thats not on the list.

I really think it has nothing to do with lists Dino. It deals more with the passion of collecting. And I also think if you asked all of the board members why, you would receive quite a few different answers.dino wrote:hmm, but why? Why is it even on the list. Aren't there other game variants too. The foundation is the fact that it seems to be quite rare. We'll see.

You've got a point. I only want one because they are so damn rare. If 1000 more popped up I'd hate the book.GJB wrote:I really think it has nothing to do with lists Dino. My snipe didn't fire cause it was too low. I'm a cheapskate, but these I would've liked.
I hope the guy packs them better for Technique than he did for my auctions.

No, they are the WITH price variant. I confirmed that with Antonio before I set my snipe. 13 total copies accounted for in the VC census. Second lowest estimated print run for the VH2/VH3 books. IMO it should be the third most valuable/collectible book for all of VH2/VH3 behind the SM #2 variant and the Turok EB games variant.Escaflown4 wrote:Those looks like the more common no price variant. Not sure if that price is worth it. I wonder if Antonio got all these Acclaim books at some liquidation sale. Where does he get all these copies?
I wonder where he got all of these books as well. If he speculated on the VH2/3 stuff then he likely more than paid for his investment with this book and the EB variant. If he lists 10 copies of the SM V3 #2 variant then that would be huge. $600+ easy.
