I remember someone selling some of DL's harby stuff either last year or two years ago, they said they were selling them FOR HIM...but I can't remember if they were interior pages or covers...somebody help me out here...sonicdan wrote:I don't think I have ever seen it for sale on eBay or posted anywhere online.myron wrote:wasn't it sold on e-bay last year sometime...JustCallMeAric wrote:So then who has the cover to Harby 1?

I went to 2 LCS today to look for YL#3 but they didn't have it. One said they don't order extra copies and would only order it for subscribers. They stopped order extra issues after YL#2. Booooo . . . I haven't collected new comics in years!
Well, I did order a copy of YL#3 from Mile High today with some other back issues. Looking forward to reading it.

ARRRRRRRRRRR!
Where's the logic? How is a book supposed to EXPAND its readership if there's not eve ONE copy on the shelf?
Oye Vey!

David,
I have to confess my first thought after reading issue 3 involved the Pinkertons and Madame Butterfly, then remembering the detective service.
Actually my first thought was of
***Spoiler Alert***
Danny and the flashback to when Sadie got shot.
Holy *SQUEE*, he really is a horrible *SQUEE*.
Between the ending of issue 2 and the setup for the great Spanish heist, this book does really move at a 1000 miles an hour.
Also whenever Runco speaks I hear it as Truman Capote by way of South America.
But this book is amazing and I have toread it last on the weeks it comes out because everything else pretty much pales comparatively.
Though you should consider posting a mixtape for each issue for all the songs you were writing or drawing the page to or what songs have the emotion you are conveying because this book must be read with loud powerful music. Personally I have been using Iggy and the Stooges and TV on the Radio.

Uh...no. My wife for many years was the publisher of El Capitan Books, and now has her own separate business as far away from all us comic book freaks as possible.Squirrel wrote:IS THAT SHORT FOR WIFEDL wrote:My assistant, Renee, handles a lot of the art posting and correspondence.myron wrote:I remember someone selling some of DL's harby stuff either last year or two years ago, they said they were selling them FOR HIM...but I can't remember if they were interior pages or covers...somebody help me out here...sonicdan wrote:I don't think I have ever seen it for sale on eBay or posted anywhere online.myron wrote:wasn't it sold on e-bay last year sometime...JustCallMeAric wrote:So then who has the cover to Harby 1?

I guess the mix tape idea is what I was doing with the Danny Duoshade recommends in the credits. But anything in that postpunk vein (The Fall, Wire, Gang of Four--but NOT New Wave--blehhh!) is where my hearts at. Iggy's great. TV, too. The Fall I listen to like a meth addict. Mission of Burma, The Minutemen, The Ex, Fugazi, Pavement/Malkmus, Dino, Jr., Modest Mouse, 31Knots, Battles, etc.
But as far as specific issues go with the two recommended.

Do you like The Replacements, The Lords of the New Church, The Waterboys, Husker Du, etc. ?
Try as I might, I've yet to be able to get into the Replacements a little to bar band or straightforward relationship song for me. Husker Du is terrific. And the others I've never really listened to. If I don't like the Replacements should I still check 'em out?Squirrel wrote:[

The Waterboys are more of a artsy poet type of Replacements, The LOTNC is more dark and gloomy...was just trying to get an idea of the other stuff you might like...I'm a old school punk at heart myself.....my band if your boredDL wrote:Try as I might, I've yet to be able to get into the Replacements a little to bar band or straightforward relationship song for me. How come you need to use Young Liars to keep working on Stray Bullets?
Its pretty sad if Stray Bullets doesn't rake in enough money to be self funding
Real shame Stray Bullets isnt out all the time, great book

Cool. I LOVE the attitude. And I hate sissy music. If I want slow and chill I'll put in Jobim. But if I want rock I want somethin' that kicks. I tend toward real post punk where they keep the 'tude but go a little further out there. Like The Fall or Burma. Pere Ubu I like a lot. The Residents. Especially the early stuff. Fugazi is as close to real punk as I've been able to get really into. Lots of good songs, but I've never been a big Clash person. I missed my window of getting into a scene, going to shows, being a rebel. So it's harder to get into pure three chord punk without that connection. I'm an "armchair rebel".
On my forum over at Standard Attrition we started a DYI thread. There's a couple guys really into the local scenes. I live vicariously.

Don't cry for me Argentina. I get into this as much as I can on the Standard Attrition site. Meanwhile, I love doing YL.cobra_commander wrote:Just read your first couple of posts on this thread David.DL wrote:Try as I might, I've yet to be able to get into the Replacements a little to bar band or straightforward relationship song for me.
