What comics are you reading now?

There has probably been more shake-up among the Marvel line with Avengers Disassembled-House of M-Civil War than with any other long-term crossover ever in their line.

Parts of it are good, but other parts I don't like. Are there any long-standing villains left? They ran out of well-established villains so they had to have a civil war among the heroes.

Seconded. Although, ahem, as Civil War has kinda of proved sometimes a lot of fun can be had by just playing with it.

I saw that Virgin Comics has hired Ron Marz as a story consultant. I never had much desire to pick up the books from Virgin, but that seals the deal for me.

Moving on to some Initiative Ms Marvel now.

I've read a couple of issues of the current Ms. Marvel series, and there is a greater focus on the main character's introspection than the average title. That always stood out to me about the older series, too.

I've only read a few issues of her current series because I avoid Civil War. I don't think I own a single Civil War title or crossover, but I have a few books that are caught up in its penumbra.

Just read two issues (issue prior to and the one where she accepts being the leader of the Avengers via Stark's offer). Definitely felt like a more substantial read than the Wolverine and Ghost Rider. I don't the dilemmas of the superfine *SQUEE* with super powers and her publicist doesn't really compel me. I'd say solid, but not something I'd pick up monthly.

I read a Casualties of War issue of Moon Knight and I don't know what it is but I have read a few (sporadic) issues of this run and they all just seem like the same damn book. Art is cool - just boring IMHO. Go out and do something dude.

Read a Thunderbolts issue and this is where writing completely comes to play. Ellis gives you something to read in every comic he does. This is one of the better Marvel books out right now IMHO.

Read the Spidey that takes place right after May was sniped and he dons the black costume - horrible. Just didn't buy it at all, thought the art was kind of bubbly - the only part I enjoyed is the dialogue between Fisk and the prison guard/ This is supposed to be a significant phases with Spidey/Peter - and at least this issue is major disappointment - no sense of tone, no feeling - no passion. Where is the madness?

Marvel is 3 issues in to a 4-issue mini called Thunderbolts Present: Baron Zemo - Born Better. I am enjoying it.

I have bought the occasional issue of Thunderbolts and enjoy those. I have bought the first three issues of this and enjoy them. If you had told me a year ago that I would be a fan of Baron f'ing Zemo, I would not have believed you, but I am really coming around about him. He's got a certain Doom-like quality about him, maybe a little more altruistic.

i am having a really hard getting back into DC, and i need a few recommendations to help me get that rolling again. So i'm thinking current books, minus the 52 thing, minus wildstorm and vertigo.

One of My LCS owners said to pick up the all star superman, i got the trade and i was not quite convinced.

So yes what should i pick up?

That's a rather nice observation - I hadn't thought about it, and maybe I'm reading the wrong books, but he may be even acting more like Doom than Doom has of late Although in a way I think it sucks that they need their own book to truly flesh out the 'villains', but I can't complain - it's a good book. Definitely brings to life some character that are really icons but we wouldn't have known it unless someone told us and really added a dimension to them or at the very least brought back into light what's always been there. Classic Ellis in my mind.

I think I'm out of the Doom loop. The last time I have seen him is in that much pubbed earl Civil War crossover with Thor's Hammer (which I think was disputed whether or no it was him) and. I have a book (I think Heroes for Hire - hell I might have just seen a pic) where he is on the cover - but haven't read it yet.

I'm rather sick of Doombots and Thanos Clones myself (although both the originals kick major *SQUEE*). I don't get new comics anywhere near on time though, so recent developments I just don't know about.

Better not read that issue of Heroes for Hire, then. I think I have that one too, and I bought it because Doom was on the cover.

I think Doom and the other headline/marquee villins were purposefully not used during the evnts of Civil war so as not to detratct from the unfolding CW story. I undertsnd that the big villains will be appearing again soon, now that the heroes have finished kicking seven shades of poop out of each other.
