I'm looking forward to it. But going to wait till price falls a little. I reckon there will be quite a few trade ins as it doesn't seem like a highly replayable game.mrknapp33 wrote:Playing LA Noire. Unfortunately, I can only play after 10 PM (kids and wife in bed). You REALLY need to pay attention to dialogue and body language, which is hard to do when half-asleep. I have finished about 8 or 9 cases, as well as 9 side-quests (stopping crimes as they happen). My impression so far is that it is a unique game that requires patience and persistence. Most gamers I know want FPS's with little thought-processes, so this might not sell that well.
Ill wait as well till the price drops, and till psn is up and running properly.ian_house wrote:I'm looking forward to it. But going to wait till price falls a little. I can tell you how to this:Daniel Jackson wrote:I'm on a second run now. I was disappointed with the ending I got, so I'm going to try things a little different this time around. Do not go after the reaper iff until you have completed everything else. Also, wake up your newest team member as soon as you are back on the ship (after getting the iff). Keep talking to him until you get him to reveal the location of his loyalty mission. Go there immediately and the rest should fall into place. The only other obstacle you face is whether you can unlock the paragon/renegade dialogue for the upcoming argument. It's the only way to resolve the conflict and have both members remain loyal (and thus not die in the end).
1) Do all loyalty missions and once the crew gets abducted you MUST start the suicide mission.
2) Get the following upgrades for the Normandy: the Armor from Jacob, the cannon from Garrus, and the shields from Tali.
3) When you get to Collector Base in the first part Choose either Tali or Legion for the tube. Choose either Garrus or Miranda to lead the second team. Run to each and open each gate FAST the longer you mess around the more likely the team member in the tube will get a missile in the face.
4) In the second part after you rescue the crew of the Normandy choose either Samara/Morinth or Jack to do the biotic shield. Select Mordin to lead the crew back the shuttle and again choose Miranda or Garrus as the leader of the second team.
5) MOVE. Don't sit around taking fire, shoot the damn collectors with any weapon. I recommend using Inferno ammo on the Collectors, and use the tech ammo (I can't remember the name of it) on the baby Reaper.

Good strategy. One of my favorite weapons is the special machine gun you get with the Kasumi DLC. I probably used it 90% of the time. Excellent weapon that has a lot of punch and very long range with no kickback.Cyberstrike wrote:I can tell you how to this:Daniel Jackson wrote:I'm on a second run now. It is a third person game, but a lot more in depth than just a shooter. The story is amazing and you can choose many different paths to take along the way. You can be a hero or a hated renegade, the choice is yours to make. Also, the decisions you make during the course of the game have repercussions in the next installment (ME3).david_albuq wrote:What type of game is ME2? A third-person shooter type?

How are the controls? The other day I downloaded Outcast, an XBLA game and the controls were SO convoluted, that I promptly deleted it. I don't have the dexterity of a 15 yo who's amped up on sugar smacks and Red Bull.
Some of these developers need to back off the game complexity. A simple FPS or 3PS shouldn't feel like we're playing Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter.

I've never played an ME game, so I don't know what that means. Are the controls RE like? I think part of the reasons I enjoy RE4/5 so much is that the controls aren't overly complicated.Daniel Jackson wrote:The controls are pretty much spot on with ME2. It's considered an Action RPG/Third-person shooter hybrid.
If you play the first game your character and decesions you make carry over into the second game and then all of the decesions from both games will carry over into Mass Effect 3.

That's crazy. I'm guessing some of you have done this? Makes me wonder if I shouldn't go rent the first one.Cyberstrike wrote:Daniel Jackson wrote:It is a third person game, but a lot more in depth than just a shooter. They are far better than Resident Evil 4.david_albuq wrote:I've never played an ME game, so I don't know what that means. Are the controls RE like? Then again I have yet to play an awful Bioware (the company that made Mass Effect) game.

It's a fairly basic control scheme for moving around, but equipping yourself with weapons and using your biotic powers (and those of your two team members) can be a bit overwhelming until you understand things. You push a button to bring up a weapons/powers wheel and highlight which item you wish to use.
Some people don't like fussing around with the powers because it temporarily freezes the action. I loved it though. While activating a particular ability you can also aim where you want while the action is frozen. Really comes in handy when your dealing with multiple foes. The nice thing is that you don't even have to mess with the biotics if you don't like using them. The game works just fine using the various guns.
This is a very involved game, David. I don't recommend a rental unless you just want to test the waters. You should be able to pick the game up fairly cheap. I bought it at Wally for 20 bucks and it comes with some cool DLC content that would cost you 14 bucks to buy from Xbox live.
Check out some of the action and reviews on Youtube first and see if this is the sort of game you would like.

Yeah I did that about 20+ times.david_albuq wrote:That's crazy. I'm guessing some of you have done this? You can play Mass Effect 2 without playing Mass Effect 1, but I think ME2 is a far richer experince. There is Mass Effect: Genesis an interactive comic book DLC for the XBox 360 and PC (it comes on the disc for the PS3) that explains 90% of the main quest but it's not as good as playing the first one.
You can buy ME1 off Xbox live and you can buy it at gamestop and their website very cheap. I will say do NOT buy the Pinnacle Station DLC for ME1 it is complete and total crap.
