If he dropped the price $10 and shipped it cheaper, I might bite. Some of those dupes might get the "depluto treatment," while others just might get the "Hobo's ex-wife" treatment.

Back in the day those three Magnus w/ coupon books alone would have been well worth the asking price even with 10 bucks shipping. Different story these days though.

I didn't know McFarlame drew Shadowman! He sure made him look like one of his own creations, too... oh, and when did VALIANT move to Image?

A seller to watch out for: cards2u. Yes, I understand that they have very nice feedback, however....I explicitly begged...like I do every seller...to make sure the books were shipped so as to avoid damage.

The guy ships in a Priority Box, with lots of padding....but doesn't secure the books down. They were shipped loose.

You know where this is heading.

So I get five of the 20 books crunched in the corners....and the listing said "NM to M"....ok, no problem, it happens. I write to the guy, and ask him what we can do to fix it....he tries to brush me off...then I respond again and say "no, you need to fix this. 15 of the books are in the 9.4-9.8 range, just fine...but 1 of the books was mangled to begin with, and four more got crunched in shipping....making them 8.0 VF and 9.0 VF/NM, respectively."

The guy says....no joke: "As you stated all of the books would be 9.4-9.8 except 4 which would be 9.0's which by the way fall into the NM/M range."

And then: "Only a moron would claim all books will be 9.6-9.8. NM means 9.0."

And then: "Please make sure you package them properly because I don't want any mangled comics when I open the box."

Kinda makes you laugh, huh?

Here's more...makes for fun reading:
By the way, I can afford a negative way more than you can. If you want to play that game go right ahead and lose your 100% feedback and get a non-paying bidder mark.
Well, you know, except for that tiny little fact that I paid, and had the books shipped to me, which therefore means THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A NPB ON THIS TRANSACTION.

It boggles the mind how someone who's done so much business on eBay is so clueless...it just boggles my mind when I see cluelessness such as that statement above...here's another:

I bought 20 books for a total of $34.33...plus $11 S&H.

Seller says "you got all these books for less than $1.50 each!"

Um.

Well, you all do the math, and tell me how many books I got for less than $1.50 each, with or without the S&H.
You are being childish and rude
Yes, holding sellers to their grading is "childish and rude."

Uh huh.
and yes I believe you are making up $10.00 in damages since you are unhappy with 4 books that will grade a 9.0 which by the way is your opinion. I might find them to be a 9.2, who made your the sole decision maker of grades??????
Ahhh! The CLARION CRY of the overgrading seller.

Did anyone miss this?

He graded them NM to M. 9.4 to 10.0. Right?

9.2 is what, again...?

Yes, that's right, not even in the grade ranges he gave in the first place.
That is being over picky,
When books have crunched corners because of poor shipping, which I despise with a passion matched only by Hobo's ex-wife for him, that is not being "over picky"....that's "great books ruined because of lazy and sloppy packing."
the only book you might have a claim on is the one that was supposedly mangled which you forget I HAVE A PICTURE OF AND CAN PROVE IT WAS NOT MANGLED
Slight clarification here...this is the picture in question:

Image

Now...without laughing here....tell me how one can see the damage on the House of M #2 way up there in the corner...?

On one of the HOM #2's (there are two), there are 5 heavy, back-to-front-through-all-pages dents...you know, the kind a book gets when it smashes into something heavy....like the floor...or something heavy smashes into it with considerable force.

On the other, the bottom right corner is crunched, with 1" heavy crease, and a radiating light crease, again from impact...as well, something relatively sharp...like the tip of a letter opener...and left a 4" impression through the bag into the cover.

In other words, eBay NM/M.

The funny thing is, the seller went on about how he "looked over the books"...yet oddly enough, missed the gouge impression or the heavy dents. You know, I think the post office opened the package, mangled those two particular books to set the seller up, then repacked the books and forwarded them to me.

That's the only possible explanation.

Or...the seller graded these books, like so many sellers, through the bag, and ignored the large gouge in the one bag.

Or, is just flat out lying.

You pick.
OR DID YOU FORGET THERE WAS A PHOTO IN THE LISTING PLUS THE NEW ONE I TOOK WHEN I ADDED THE BOOKS.....DIDN'T THINK OF THAT DID YOU.
Oh. Oh no. You got me, Mr. Overgrading seller. Oh. Oh my. Whatever shall I do?

See above "photo in the listing."
I said send them back and once I get them you will get a refund. Please remember to pack the comics properly to prevent any mangled corners.
Isn't that a laugh riot?

Isn't it AMAZING how ballsy these sellers get when you can't confront them face to face?

The guy fails to pack well enough to prevent damage to all of the books...then tells ME to do the same?

Hidden agenda alert: what is really happening here, is that the seller is setting himself up to receive the books back, and then will try and claim *I* didn't package them correctly, and as a result of MY poor RETURN packing, they got mangled, so no refund...despite the fact that the damage was due to him, and him alone.

Isn't that nifty how the criminal mind works?

Oh, and he refused to refund the S&H. Shocker.
Now can we get serious???????
Yes, because I wasn't serious before.

I will refund you $1.71 for the one mangled book and $3.42 for half of the 9.0 since we disagree on what a 9.0 is for a total of $5.13. That is a fair compromise.
The silly part is, I forgot to mention the gouge impression to him, because I'd looked over 20 books, and it slipped my mind...I accepted the $5.13 partial refund, but I am JUST on the edge of telling him to pound sand.

I have to keep telling myself that $1.26 each for five books I wouldn't have paid 25 cents for in person is an acceptable "deal." I just have no interest in beat up modern books. Period.

If others of you would have paid more, more power to ya! If that was the case...the lot would have sold for more, no?
Your other option is to mail them back as I keep telling you.
Don't you just LOVE arrogant and snotty sellers? He "kept telling me" but refused to answer whether he would cover the S&H because of HIS "error" until AFTER this e-mail.

Gotta love it!

Looks like ol' Hook's up to it again....at least he has big pics.

I need the <shakes head> emoticon.

We've got a POOR, a POOR/FAIR, and a FAIR graded Fair, Good-, and Good! respectively....

The guy also has a love affair with exclamation points.

Admit it. You searched for the Playgirl #1 and wanted to post it sooooo bad that you found an overgraded auction to post about "first". I'm now watching all Playgirl #1 auctions to see just how many of your ebay IDs are snatching those bad boys.....er.....girls up. :thumb:
