I'm guessing this is a flashback showing more of what's going on in that scene from 22.bygranddesign wrote:This page from issue #23 looks like the potential for a mind swap

Re: Harbinger Death
Here is a thought. Perhaps since Torque has been a bit weaker, that is allowing for his projection to be more vulnerable to attack/ penetration (go ahead and snicker). If John Torquelson isn't killed, then perhaps his ability to create "Torque" is, as in he can no longer use his ability.

Re: Harbinger Death
From the way Flamingo and others have mentioned it to him, I've thought that it's more to do with him learning to be less self conscious and not needing to pretend who he is so much. The question becomes if his power is only controlled by his instinct, or if he admit it, accept it, and take conscious control of his powers in full. To fully admit and accept the projection power though, means fully admitting and accepting his real body first. I think this is the path he's on (thanks in part to the whole team and thanks alot to Faith) and while it does make him weaker and more vulnerable for now, if he can survive this period he should be so much stronger on a psychological level and his psiot power level as well.vaevictis wrote:Here is a thought. But on a story level it would make for a heartbreaking end if he is the one to die because he got in touch with his feelings and became a better person. Not that there aren't valid story reasons that would make worthy deaths for any of the other renegades as well. That's why Dysart is such a master here. It would totally work for any of the main 5 to die and there would be awesome reasoning for any of them and great heartbreaking moments in any of the possible deaths.

Re: Harbinger Death
Torque seems the most likely to die because of the aforementioned change in size and his recent development along with the fact that Torque died in the first series. That's why I think Faith is going to be the one to die forcing Torque into taking her place as the heart of the team. Yes, I think the stereotypical dude-bro muscle head will become the new heart and soul of the renegades...although given Charlene's interaction with Faith and Torque after they hooked up means that she could also fill that void.
Not only would Faith's death be like our souls got kicked in the balls but we have two good characters who could take on her role.

Re: Harbinger Death
And I could totally see either Torque or Flamingo getting saved by Faith flying into the path of an oncomming killer attack, thereby making her sacrifice spur them even more into trying to fill the void left by taking her place as the heart of the team. Totally fits....Spylocke wrote:Torque seems the most likely to die because of the aforementioned change in size and his recent development along with the fact that Torque died in the first series. Re: Harbinger Death
I could see Torque as a possibility only because Dysart has done quite a bit to tie up his character arc. But (I'm pretty sure I mentioned this previously) the Armor Hunters cover art that they released makes me think that both Torque and Faith are safe. Not that the covers on Valiant books have always been an accurate representation of what's inside, but I really think that if they're trying to attract new readers they're not going to include characters that won't be appearing in the books likely to be some readers' first VEI book.Phoenix8008 wrote:And I could totally see either Torque or Flamingo getting saved by Faith flying into the path of an oncomming killer attack, thereby making her sacrifice spur them even more into trying to fill the void left by taking her place as the heart of the team. Misdirection, or perhaps not properly transcribed. Lots of grammar errors in that interview.

Re: Harbinger Death
Here are my predictions:
Torque => Lives
Flamingo => Lives
Faith => Lives
Pete => Dies/Unknown
Kris => Dies/Unknown
It will be a toss-up between Pete and/or Kris. I'm leaning towards Kris taking the dirt-nap, with Pete smashing fists with Harada and then unknown. I suspect that Kris will die, Pete will lose it, fight Harada, and then in the aftermath of that battle Pete will wander off, lose his memory, tap into deeper power, or some other unknown end-state.
