Hey all,

I just got off the phone with Jim from Library Binding Company. He said that a 1 inch square die for the spine would run about $30 to have made. I asked about a front cover die as well (just in case) and he said that for a 3 inch by 3 inch die it would be pretty close to $30 as well.

So the next question is would we want just the Valiant compass, or the word "Valiant" above or below the compass as well?

Would anyone want a front cover logo, or just on the spine?

And last but not least, is anyone else actually willing to contribute to a group effort to have this made?

Thanks for looking into this!

Ill be willing to contribute :thumb:

How much is it when they actually use the die on the spine and/or the front?

Looks like around $5 extra to put the die on after it's created.

For me, I think that just the spine die would be fine. Of course if you put a dustjacket on it, then you don't even see that... :hm:

True.. and I do plan on using dust jackets...

I have my Armories set ready to send in but Im not confident that I know enough about using their 'binding slip' well enough to not make a mistake. Ill get to it eventually. I will probably need to call them as I am completing it so they can walk me through the process. :?

If we can get 6 people in on it @ 5 bucks each, it seems very reasonable.

I'm right there with you. Very interested and have what could be a book or two worth that could be sent in. I'm currently scouring the 'Bound Books' thread to try and consolidate the info there for future (hopefully soon) use.

Right now, I have a total of 33 Valiant books bound and in hand, with these six I'll have 39 of my projected 46 Valiant books bound. I still need to make dust jackets for three of my books. I'll be posting updated photos later this weekend.

Still waiting for the call where they ask for my CC for the order I shipped in April.

Once I have those in hand.
It will be 3 finished
8 from that order.
For 11 in total.

Next order I am planning New X-Men (Grant Morrison, 2 volumes)
Harbinger(2 volumes)
Unity
and likely something else.

I sent my books out in the beginning of March I think.. so it takes several weeks. Im sure part of it is dependent on what their current order load is..

It seems like the turnaround time is about five weeks. Lots of people from quite a few different boards have been sending Library their books -- so demand has increased greatly.

My last shipment took five weeks - causing me to miss having my X-O Manowar and Trinity Angels books for the NY Comic Con. So, I've just adjusted my planning now to expect a call in six weeks, so that if it's earlier than that, it's a bonus.

1 volume of the Complete Marvel Doc Savage Magazine

Here is current photo of my bound Valiant collection -- still need to create dustjackets for the last three X-O books but I should finish those this weekend. 33 volumes plus my Savage Tales book and my Tales Calculated to Drive You Mad book.

Image

The Savage Tales should be of interest to Valiant collectors because :

autographed by Barry Smith!!

Also, another point in favor of binding. At the NY Comic Con, I asked Bernand Chang for just an autograph in my Visitor book, he chose instead to do this:

Making the volume that much more of a keepsake for me. I also had Rags Morales sign one of my Turoks, Bob Layton signed my Unity collection and Bob Almond signed my Acclaim Bloodshot book.

Yes, I do.

I can send you the files. Do you want full-size for dust jackets or were you thinking about a poster or something?
