Left-click, as that's all I've ever had to do to DL something (includung epi. 15.)Brother J wrote:Are you left-clicking the link or are you right-clicking on it, which brings up the little menu which has six options or so, one of them being "save link as..."?
I've never had to right-click to save something in my life - and when I try it here, I immediately get some alert about a script stoppage. If I cancel, it goes back to the page. If I continue, it spins and spins and spins and does nothing for a long time...If you just left click on the link, it doesn't download it, it just plays it from the page.

Mine has never made me right-click to save... and as mentioned above, if I do that here, I get a script error.Dr. Solar wrote: Most browsers are configured to download any audio file to a temporary location and play it in your browser when you click on them.
If you want to save the file, you need to "right click/save as", as Bro J mentioned.
I appreciate the help, but I am guessing this old, lame computer I have is the culprit, and I'm not gonna worry myself over it. Not to downplay anything you and James have done, but I've gone without these podcasts for this long, not having them now isn't going to kill me.

Sounds like a problem with your computer.slym2none wrote:Mine has never made me right-click to save... and as mentioned above, if I do that here, I get a script error.

Well... I'll be a dirty bird.
I was looking at some pics in the MyPics file, and what do you know - there's episode #1 sitting there. Apparently when I right-clicked the link last night, it did DL the file, it just a) put it in a location of it's own choosing (I always have MP3 downloaded right to my MyMusic file) and b) the script-error I was getting apparently only affected the page, not the download.
Just now, I went back to the OTV site, and while I still can't left-click to DL, the right-click works like a charm, with no script error today. I just got the first 17 episodes, and since it didn't half-fill my MP3 player, I will probably be able to get all of the remainder of the episodes on it at once (after I listen to these, of course.)
Sorry for any BS, guys.

Was it noise contamination from SDCC?

Nah, I assume the latest episode was filmed in one of the guy's hotel room. I believe it was this "Billy Corgan" character who responded "no $hit" when Dr. Solar mentioned he dated a girl from Sarajevo while in college.X-O HoboJoe wrote:"Shut up, Mother *SQUEE* !"Brother J wrote:You get to hear some real swear words in the latest podcast, not sure if it was the first time, but it's the first time I can recall.dave wrote:What the flooie is wrong with you Sean? Was it noise contamination from SDCC?Er, that was an "imagining" of the comment.
Where ever it is, this Hobo missed it completely.

SanFranBear,
I'd like to hear what you think of the Essex County Trilogy. Individually, the second story is the best, but if you read it straight through from the beginning, things come together masterfully in the end. Loved it.
I'd like to hear what you think of the other Top Shelf stuff (except the manga stuff). I'm always interested to find some good slice of life stuff.

Listening to the Doctor Solar review episode again as I drink a few beers and surf the net.
I've only read the first 4-6 pages of Doc Solar #1. I had to put it down because it felt really campy. I wasn't in the mood to read something like that. Rather than forcing myself to read it, I decided to put it aside and get back to it when I'm in a better mood.
I really like Capt Ketchup's comments about comics from just 20 years ago vs. today (like The Dark Phoenix Saga). That's the way I feel and I almost wonder if I'm in a time warp when I hear people praise some of this stuff like it's gold.
I also hope it's not Valiant Solar redux. That will flop.
I agree with the GoldenStateBear regarding the "clunkiness" in Shooter's writing at times. It's either that he's too smart for the artist he's working with or he just doesn't write great scripts for the artist. Not sure.
