It gives you a PREMIERE binder WITH all the cards, to include ALL of the level one chase cards, the card in the binder and two of the three level two cards.

Damn good deal...
$34 total still a bit to rich for my blood :!:

Geez, it is NOT a hardcover Plasm #0. It is Plasm binder that you must get a set of Plasm cards to stick into the pages to make the plasm #0 comic. It comes with a nice card in the back (exclusive to the CARD BINDER) and a Splatterball comic. These things are all over the place. What you are bidding on is a second edition binder, meaning that there are two other binders out there as well.

Pick up your BINDER, find all the cards (150 common cards) and read the story. You are bidding on a card BINDER not a hardbound edition of Plasm #0.

Geez, now you got Technique all worked up. OH, and if it WAS a HC of Plasm #0 and Technique didnt have it... he would bid a second mortgage on his house to get it. If he wanted it, he would have it.... (so its best not to bring these things to his attention)
Thats the one. So basically you're saying I'm getting ripped off :!:  Now these Card Binders just tell the same story thats told in theWarriors of Plasm Comics but in card form correct? Also thanks for letting me in on Techniques E-Bay etiquette  Next time I'll just PM you with the question :thumb: Knightt. :thumb:
This was the official binder to put the cards in. There are three editions of this binder that I have heard of and I have two. They are both still in shrinkwrap, so they don't have cards. I don't even have the cards, but I have 2 uncut sheets and they are awesome.

When put together in the correct order, these cards are Warriors of the Plasm #0. The binder is titled Plasm because that was the original name of the title of the comic, but it was changed pending a lawsuit from Marvel. Marvel was pretty much a *SQUEE* about the whole thing with Defiant.

So, this binder probably doesn't tell any story. It needs the cards too.

Yeah, you should be able to find them waay cheaper. You can buy a empty one and a whole box of cards to fill it up with for less than that.

Boxes of cards had two chase cards per box, the second level chase cards were even more rare to find.

At $34 total that is a one stop shopping to this set and I find it a pretty good deal. Tell you what, you grab that set for $34... I will Paypal you the $10.00 for shipping to help out. :thumb:

Here is a cut and paste from a website in ref the binders/cards:

Plasm Zero Issue
The River Group - 1993

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes: The set was also issued in two factory tin sets, a "premium" and a "special" edition.
The premium edition, limited to 5,555 tin sets, included 150 foil-stamped cards plus the
9 Level-1 and 4 Level-2 chase cards plus an additional #4 of 4 on heavy stock; a "comic"
on cassette tape with a story synopsis and 4-card set based on the audio; a certificate for
a special comic; and certificates of authenticity and welcome. The special edition, limited
to 25,000 tin sets, has the certificate for a special comic and the #4 of 4 chase card, and
certificate. A supplement of 33-card, foil "character cards" was issued separately as a
boxed factory set. A related item is the Splatter Bowl I factory set, which is checklisted
here. Three different editions of binders were also produced. Although the Level-1
holographic-foil chase cards are marked "X of 9", the usual chase set contains only the
eight cards that were available in packs, excluding the one distributed in the binder. The
Level-2 (embossed) chase card #4 was also randomly inserted in packs for the Dark
Dominion set. And thanks much to Douglas Cambron, Rogers Cadenhead, Tom Keir,
Jim Hollister, Michael Jones, Chris Brown, Chris Scott, and Defiant1 for updates!

There is considerable uncertainty about the Level-3 chase cards. According to Douglas
Cambron, "Originally there was only supposed to be one level three signed card (as
printed on the cards wraper) and placed one in a case ... Due to time constraints they
had Jim sign a level 1 card. But for some reason they did not have enough of the
same type of card on hand and his signature appeared on an unknown number of
the level one cards that were placed 1 in every 3 cases. This is all debatable and Mr.
Shooter himself does not remember how many or of what type of cards his signature
graced." Jeff indeed pulled a signed Level-1 card from a pack (number 5 of 9), but
it is not certain whether all of the Level-1 cards were signed, nor in what quantities,
nor whether there was also a different card used for part of the distribution. Jim
reports possessing signed cards for all numbers except 1 and 4 and has been told
that the signed cards were inserted in approximately 1 of every 5000 packs, which
would make them more scarce than the other reports would indicate.

The binders can also be confusing. Apparently the original package offered by River
Group in 1993 included only the binder (stamped in gold foil as "Premier Edition",
gold-foil-stamped Splatter Bowl comic, and a single holofoil. The second printing is
distinguished by a silver-foil "Second Edition" marking on the cover and comic, with
the image from the Plasm #0 comic within a frame on a black background, instead of
filling the page like the actual comic cover. Chris Brown was the first to report that
both of the two first editions included a coupon on the back that could be cut out and
mailed in for the "back cover art" from the comic, to be inserted in the back of the
binder. Albums with redeemed artwork are more desirable than albums with the
send-away offer attached. And David Pass reports that there was a third-edition
binder with a different cover soon before Defiant shut down, sold through Revco
drug stores and possibly other retail outlets separate from the usual comics trade.

In 1997, extended packages were released by whomever 'inherited' the remaining stock
from Defiant and/or River Group, and a new album package (for both 1st and 2nd
printing albums) now included the original contents plus a complete basic set and all
nine Level-1 holofoils. So if you are in the market for the album package, make sure
you check to see which version you are receiving; the 1997 "repackages" will probably
never be as collectible as the editions produced by Defiant. There might be additional
combination packages available in the aftermarket; Jim Shooter said, "I could not stop
them [Defiant/River Group] when they did gimmicks and limited editions", so even
he was not sure which packages might have been distributed in the beginning. Chris
Brown reports that the actual Plasm Zero Issue comic was only available bound into
Previews magazine, which almost makes the book a promo for the cards.

Chris also points out that not all Level-1 chase cards that were signed by Jim Shooter
are Level-3 cards, because Jim signed some of the cards after the set was released. If
the signature is beneath the clear UV card coating, it is a Level-3; if the signature is
on top of the clearcoat, it is a signed Level-1.

The premium edition tin is very cool, but not easy to find, I recommend buying one if you can find it at a good price. :thumb:

The first one I bought came from the my local LCS the day it came out and filling it up was pretty expensive back then (in fact the binder was selling for 75 bucks by the end of week due to a "mix up" on the number of first edition binders). I have since bought two more sealed first edition binders for around 5 bucks. I was also able to find a couple of auctions that had all the special cards for under 10 bucks. So for around 20 bucks I nabbed what I needed to complete a couple of binders. This is minus the back cover of course. I had to send away to get one of those. I've seen more pop up on ebay since then, but just haven't had the desire to buy anymore.

Looks GREAT, I will take everything in photo #4 as it is obviously trash of the worst kind. Keeping that stuff will just junk up your collection and seeing as how you are a great guy, I would hate to see that happen to a guy like you.

BTW, you will notice in the piece of paper that has the word Plasm all over it is a drawing of Lorca which is drawn by the one and only Neal Adams. :thumb:

OOOOHHHH, I just noticed that this auction has the back art for the binder as well. VERY nice score with the exception of the junk in photo #4

Didnt this also come with a letter from the company explaining a few things ?
None of mine have a letter. I do have a note for the item that reads:

"Some may have the "River Group" letter (not by Shooter) that accompanied the comic."

So I suppose that some do.

Do you have one with a letter?

Now that you mention it I recall one on ebay but the starting bid was too high. I don't recall exactly what the letter said.
I just found one of these "Dark Dominion" books autographed by Shooter, with the 3 cards, and I also got the letter from the River Group dated January 10, 1994. It was a pretty cool find for a quarter!

Yeah, I was kind of excited. I never find anything really outstanding. The book was in the dollar bin and it had a $5.00 price tag on it, and I went to the counter to pay for it, and the guy told me it was only a quarter! Good comic book shopping day today!

January 10, 1994

Dear Retailer:
1993 was an unusual year for all of us in the comics industry. The exciting challenges of 1994 are ahead and we look forward to working with you yo achieve our sales and marketing objectives. Last year I had the opportunity to meet the vastly talented Jim Shooter. He shared with me his vision for the DEFIANT UNIVERSE. Later, I partnered the launch of his new company. Jim is a unique person who will help our industry grow throughout the end of this century and beyond.

Although The River Group is an experienced and talented team, we certainly did not fulfill all our (and your) expectations. Yes, we created and produced high quality, imaginative products. However, we could not control the creative process required to guarantee product shipments on a timely basis. We have been working very hard to solve that problem, and I am personally dedicated to correcting this deficiency. Please drop me a note if you have any suggestions for improving our products, market support or services.

Our senior management team has been calibrating a view of the new year by talking with many of you retailers nationwide. It is apparent that we are now in a slower growth business cycle. There is a proliferation of titles along with an excess amount of card products. Strategically, we believe that you and your customers will benefit from a reduced schedule of DEFIANT card products. Although we have heavily advertised and promoted the DEFIANT UNIVERSE card collection, it is timely for us to delay this release until the market rebounds, We are confident that you support this decision.

Enclosed herewith as a measure of our thanks for your continued support are two collectibles: (1) an exclusive three-card pack featuring characters from Warriors of Plasm, Dark Dominion, and Good Guys, (2) a personally autographed copy of Jim's Dark Dominion Issue #1 book.

Peace and good fortune to you and your family throughout 1994.

Sincerely,

Daniel C. Shedrick
CEO

It did not help the Warriors of Plasm cards when an issue of Previews placed the entire #0 in a printed version smack dab in the middle of the Previews issue. So, you did not have to buy the cards to read the comic. Kinda dumb huh ?

ok, not sure if you know these, but...

Dark Dominion #0: there is no comic that comes with the binder, the binder itself with the cards is called DD #0. So if you have a full binder, you can take that one off your list.

Glory #0: not a comic, it was a four part story that was printed in Overstreet CBM #15-18. Those issues are worth tracking down, though.
