Both sides are at fault? Not even close.ManofTheAtom wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 10:44 am Both sides are at fault, one for the hostility and the other for not providing the answers to the questions being asked. The latter could have certainly mitigated the former, but this is where we're at...
One side is just running a kickstarter and answered every question that was asked. If you don't feel like those answers were sufficient for you, or you're not comfortable with the rights situation, then don't back the kickstarter, that's you're right. There are no guarantees on any kickstarter project, it's always up to people to decide if they will trust their money to support a project.
The other side is on a malicious smear campaign calling the whole thing a scam with no evidence, except evidence like contacting Lapham that has now been shown to be completely fabricated. Two trolls who contribute nothing positive to this board are on a vendetta to smear this kickstarter for unknown reasons.
These two sides are not the same.

If there were clear answers as to the rights, that would likely mitigate the hostility.Ryan wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:54 pmBoth sides are at fault? Totally. I fear this fandom is too broken to ever come close to what it used to be. Way too many years of greed, overhyped projects that underdeliver, non-fan creators who want to use Valiant as a stepping-stone, and just general incompetent/mediocre comics for such a niche fanbase to survive.1st Among Equals wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 10:24 am Being a very casual board member who just likes the various shooter-verses, these threads are a big push away from keeping the content alive. We get inklings of returns or new content from 20+ year old projects just to have fights over it

I doubt it, the trolls would just find (or create) something else to complain about.ManofTheAtom wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:55 pm If there were clear answers as to the rights, that would likely mitigate the hostility.
Again, if people aren't satisfied with the answers midnightonearth gave about the rights, they have every right to not support the project. It doesn't mean they're excused for making up lies about contacting Lapham and calling it a scam when it clearly isn't.
Re: SCHISM from DEFIANT - Kickstarter ft. Jim Shooter, David Lapham
No lies. I have it in writing. OP can say whatever he wants. Still hasn't answered questions about if Lapham is being taken care of or if permission for the rights was even given. Just excuses about future projects. Nothing about future projects would preclude a simple, here's who owns it and we have permission. Give us that info and I'll gladly leave it alone. Although it probably won't matter as this thing ain't getting funded it seems.Ryan wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 1:00 pmI doubt it, the trolls would just find (or create) something else to complain about.ManofTheAtom wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:55 pm If there were clear answers as to the rights, that would likely mitigate the hostility.

Yet you're the one who has a long history of making up completely fabricated 'news' on this forum. One example:syzhang28 wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 2:17 pm No lies. I have it in writing. Although it probably won't matter as this thing ain't getting funded it seems.
And you're the one who throws all these 'scam' allegations behind an anonymous username, while never offering any proof.syzhang28 wrote: Sat Aug 12, 2023 3:16 am Alien has started hiring writers and artists. Mostly original Valiant creators from the 90s. They have also met with Dinesh. The owner of my LCS was at one of these meetings with several other people and said Dinesh introduced them to an editor for them to hire (he didn't catch her name) and some creators who were their including Frank Miller, again he was suggesting they work with them. He only knew that other thing involved Joshua Dysart and Robert Venditti because both those names came up and he remembered since he's friends with both of them.
Feel free to not support the kickstarter if you don't like their explanations on the rights. But leave this thread for those that are. We all know there are always risks behind supporting any kickstarter. We just want these comics to be made because we want to read them. And your trolling is making that harder.
Feel free to hate Shooter and Shooter comics all you want (on a valiant board, but whatever), I'm just asking that you do it in a separate thread.

And i like the deflecting tactic. Show everyone the emails youreceived from David Lapham. He's never heard of you. Because you're a lying scumbag.
And don't say "i'm not going to that because blah blah blah". Show the email, or shut up. The kickstarter is getting people interested and funded, and you still talk crap.
Over, and over and over, you're been proven wrong, and you still come on here like you are some Valiant authority.
And who are you todecide to be the moral authority. Direct David Lapham to the page and let him discuss this himself. Like reddog did with the other creator. This is still in it's infancy and you act like you're the privy council with ultimate authority. You're just some miserable scumbag.
Can you send me some of the stuff you're smoking? I must be amazing to live in your little land fantasy.

There would need to be evidence to be proven wrong. Where's his email with Lapham? I'm not giving him Lapham's email address. Prove that Lapham has been contacted and is being paid, then we can talk. The Chosen 1 wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 4:00 pmHahaha, i love that even though you've been proven to be a lying scumbag, you're still doubling down.syzhang28 wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 2:17 pmNo lies. You don't have any evidence, because you've never made any contact with David Lapham. He doesn't even know who you are. You made the claim first that you've spoken to him. But you refuse to back it up, and that says so much more about your loose relationship with the truth, than me calling you a lying scumbag.
And i'm not your buddy. I don't associate with delusional lying scumbags.
And yes, i am calling you names. Don't potificate and try to claim the moral high ground. You need to be called out for what you are. Put up or Shut up.

You're the one who's a proven liar on this board (where's our Frank Miller, 90s creators, Dysart and Venditti Alien comics?) and who hides all his accusations behind an anonymous handle. The burden of proof is on you to prove you're not lying (again).syzhang28 wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 4:05 pm

This sounds like quite the quandry now. There seems to be no obvious reason to not show his proof. Things continue to unnecessarily escalate.
Again, can't people just move on to their respective corners and call it quits? As in, stop fighting and calling each other names?

I don't know if it's unneccessarily escalating. I think it's very necessary.ManofTheAtom wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 7:58 pm Things continue to unnecessarily escalate.

BUT, i think the one thing the negative corner are forgetting is that this a a project, by someone who is not experienced in this industry, and is trying to make something work and they're learning along the way. He's not someone Dinesh who has experience and knows exactly what to do and how to do it.
I'm sure some mistakes have been made, but they seem to have been rectified as they come up. If anyone who likes to throw crap from the sidelines can come up with better ways of doing it, why don't they share their ideas?
We're supposed to be a community, why not share information instead of being gate keepers as a way of feeling self important? It's really pathetic and it's more an issue about control than helping.

Yeah, but let's have the discussion without resorting to the name calling. I myself have been guilty of it but it's very counterproductive. The Chosen 1 wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 8:39 pmI don't know if it's unneccessarily escalating. I say if you’re in contact with Lapham - show the proof. As already stated - the email has already been revealed. Don’t have the balls to show an actual email? Copy and paste. I’d love to dissect it to see if it’s real or just something you whip up yourself to try and fool everyone.
I think it’s quite easy to be a detractor and call everything a scam when literally all the pieces, except the money, are there for production to get started. You don’t want to back the kickstarter? Cool. Understood.
But I think it’s very easy to blast someone for taking on this effort, to lie (as the post posts about your comments have shown), and say you have contact with someone when, perhaps, you don’t.
*SQUEE* or get off the pot.

No interest in proving what I already know to be true. Especially when the evidence is in. The kickstarter failed spectacularly. a third of its goal. People clearly wanted answers.RyanMcLelland wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 2:40 pm I say if you’re in contact with Lapham - show the proof. As already stated - the email has already been revealed.
I ran his comment through an AI bull *SQUEE* intepreter, and it said what he is really trying to say is:
I can't prove anything because i've lied this whole time, but i'm so committed to trying to look like an expert, i have to keep lying.
And the kickstarter is already at a third of it's goal, with an extremely small fan base and not much promotion. I'm upset that it wasn't my idea and now i'm going to criticize it at every opportunity.
Im not going to listen to any answers you give. They aren't compatible with my limited intelligence and therefore i am unable to agree with them.
But seriously, David Lapham's email have been published on here and is easily accessible to anyone who can be bothered finding it.
SO, there either is an email that can be shown, or theres not an email which will confirm eveything we all think about Scumbag28.
The Doubling Down without evidence really give's him 'credibility'.

Syzhang28, please do yourself and all the rest of us a favor and address your mental illness. Or maybe go apply for a job in the new U.S. Administration as you’d fit right in. The rest of us are going to go back to positively talking about comic books, Valiant, Defiant or otherwise. The Chosen 1 wrote: Wed Mar 05, 2025 6:46 pmHahaha, i know right?Ryan wrote: Wed Mar 05, 2025 5:03 pmLOL the guy who has been proven to be a liar multiple times on this board says his evidence is 'trust me bro'. "I sent Lapham an email" is this year's "I hit my head falling down a mountain"...

Well, if you said you emailed a comic book pro I'd believe it.RyanMcLelland wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 4:09 amI made some coffee this morning. I emailed David so he’s aware. Well, David Lapham emailed me with new comic ideas he wanted to get my opinion on. I have the email, but I can’t show you.RyanMcLelland wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 4:09 amI made some coffee this morning. But trust me bro, it’s true.
