Most of the Gold Sponsor/FCBD comics have preview pages posted on the site already:

http://www.freecomicbookday.com/comics.asp

All that's left are the Marvel and Dark Horse books. :hm:

I think that gold sponsor refers to the well recognized characters who will draw in the most interest. Silver would be the lesser recognized.

I should know, but I don't remember. This isn't it, though.

Hmm.. wish you could remember, cause I can't think of anything else off hand.

Well, the official answer is this:
"Free Comic Book Day is administered by a panel representing all parts of the comic book industry: retailers, publishers, suppliers, and Diamond Comic Distributors. Each year, publishers apply to provide comic books at cost to retailers, who in turn give them away for free. Diamond handles marketing and logistics for the event, shipping comics to shops and handling marketing and PR for the event."

Even as Diamond's sister company, my company (Gemstone) has to apply. We were one previously with the Disney's, and then we weren't. My understanding is the committee picks Gold Level with a combination of factors, including trying to have at least some kid-friendly material.

Since several publishers (Marvel, DC, Archie...) do more than one book, I think it's safe to presume that you can only have one in the Gold category.

In the credits, they listed Wes Dzioba on colors for the Magnus side of the book. His coloring work on comics look pretty awesome. :thumb:

So this Solar still has human organs unlike the Valiant Solar. Interesting to see where this goes.

I kind of agree. This preview doesn't get me excited. I was more excited NOT seeing anything. Of course they aren't going to give much away in a preview, but the art is just "OK". I'm sure the color will help it a lot. Maybe the regular series is by a different artist and this guy is only on the FCBD edition?

I'm definitely not excited by the low res reproduction.

I am excited the fact that the issue and these characters' return is getting closer.

Denis Callero's art, in my opinion, has always been in the finish. I picked up the mini-series he did for Platinum called UNIQUE and it was very cool stuff. It will look a lot different in color.

It's sort of like looking at Greg Land's stuff in pencil form. It's hard to tell how it gets to the finished product I love so much. Pretty underwhelming at that point.

Good to know. As it stands, it looks like it took them about 4 minutes to crank out the pencils for the whole book.
