Actually sniping is more high-tech than that (and a bit less sinister).Manowar Class wrote:I can feel ya'll on the snipers...they wait till the last 20 seconds and place a higher bid. I lost some later issues of X-O because of that! I really try to avoid doing that myself unless it is something that I REALLY want.
I use www.ESnipe.com but there are tons of choices.
When I see an Ebay item I want, I place a bid on it through ESnipe.com.
(Usually I even place that bid the very first day of the auction.)
ESnipe.com automatically waits until the last seconds to bid for me.
In the old days, it was guys hovering around their keyboards at the last second
waiting to hit the "Enter" key.
Today, it's like Tivo for Ebay... just set it, and forget it.

Although, honestly we still hover around the keyboard waiting to see if we won, we just let something else actually do the fun part for us.greg wrote:Actually sniping is more high-tech than that (and a bit less sinister).Manowar Class wrote:I can feel ya'll on the snipers...they wait till the last 20 seconds and place a higher bid. Nahh...the fun part is seeing what you've won for half of what your snipe bid was for.whetteon wrote:Although, honestly we still hover around the keyboard waiting to see if we won, we just let something else actually do the fun part for us.greg wrote:Actually sniping is more high-tech than that (and a bit less sinister).Manowar Class wrote:I can feel ya'll on the snipers...they wait till the last 20 seconds and place a higher bid. Rule of thumb, guys...
You eat chicken, you poop SHT
You eat SHT, you don't poop chicken...
so,
forget about eating Ninjak #1s in order to poop 25c coins!!!

I dont think that I buy enough stuff on ebay to warrant sniping stuff...i guess if I ever started buying lots of stuff or even was lokoing to buy stuff I would start sniping..greg wrote:Actually sniping is more high-tech than that (and a bit less sinister).Manowar Class wrote:I can feel ya'll on the snipers...they wait till the last 20 seconds and place a higher bid. Yeah, 703chang was the guy who I beat out for the 2 X-O pinks. He only had the minimal bid, I think I bid double what the starting bid was, but only had to pay the next increment up from $3! Sometimes I like eBay.... then again, there are times when I really DON'T like eBay...Manowar Class wrote:wait a tick...two X-O 15 pinkies...did you swipe those from Chan703 or something like that? I bought some Shadowman books from him and he didn't pack them very well at all! I'm glad you got them and not him!

-slym (is now thinking about how different the words "increment" and "excrement" are)
Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

I always wondered if 703chang was someone on the boards???Manowar Class wrote:oh yeah, nice going on beating 703 Chang...I don't like him. He packages poorly when you buy from him. I got some Shadowmans from him and I didn't like how they were able to flop about. They could have been damaged.

There was also that thread that was started that was tracking eBay names for winners of Valiant issues.
It's Solar... Don't call him Dr. Phil!
