It would be in their best interests.........x-omatic wrote:sydney_1015 is a bidder on one of my auctions.depluto wrote:Check out the shill bidder ...
Thats how I found the auction. He is a zero feedback bidder on my Rai auction and I was thinking about canceling his bids.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1
I used this search:
http://search.ebay.com/ws/search/AdvSea ... findtype=3
Doesn't seem to have any logic to the bidding.
I was thinking about something very strange with a bid history like this. What if eBay had a program that created new users that bids up auctions so they get more "final auction fees". I don't see how they could get caught. They might even be doing this already.

They haven't removed unregistered bidders from active auctions in YEARS.The Spider wrote:Anybody noticed this?

I checked on the bidding history for this, and noticed that an unregistered user still had a bid on the auction. Last I remembered, eBay automatically took any bidders off if they were bidding, and got a suspending non-paying bidder warning.
It's not in their best interests. They 'cancel' a bid, but keep it in the auction, to keep the bid up. That way, they make more money.
Scummy, huh?
On a totally unrelated note...hey X-O....recognize the Atomic Comics price sticker...?

so no one's gonna rail this genius about the "MAGNVS" reference?
ok, i will...
i can tell you're totally new at the valiant thing not only by the prices you're asking for your books but also the fact that you don't even KNOW what the title of one of the flagship books is...
$800 starting price with no bids...who here is shocked by that?

just a bit high, but that does seem to be one book that is tough to find in STRICT NM condition. I have a couple copies of U2000 #3 and each of them has some type of flaw that would downgrade it, it seems like most of the copies on eBay are usually described as VF/NM or NM-. Also, add to it that this book is from the Acclaim office find and that probably adds some value, as well. Does anyone know how well Antonio does with grading?

Antonio's done fine by me. I won the X-O #21, Unity 2000 #1, uhhh....lessee...Quantum and Woody #20 and #21....and...something I'm forgetting....anyhoo, they were all pretty much NM copies, but what struck me as VERY, VERY odd...Brother J wrote:just a bit high, but that does seem to be one book that is tough to find in STRICT NM condition. ....quite a few of them had STORE sticker prices on them.
...and these were supposed to be Acclaim's...right?

I'm assuming you're talking store sticker prices on the bags, not directly on the comics...
Hmmm, does he state that ALL the Acclaim/Valiant books he's selling are from that find? I was under the impression that they were, but it's possible he went to some local shops and found more of these books on the cheap.

Antonio is good by me. I haven't received any with store stickers. I think the above comment regarding that issue may be correct. Acclaim wouldn't buy back books, I don't think and it seems like Antonio didn't buy books before he acquired these.
I've bought several auctions from him. At first, his grading was a little off and packaging was not the best. He quickly fixed those problems. I think like many people though, he probably grades more accurately on small lots rather than the large run lots.
As far as the Unity 3 goes, it was already high after the first day or two of the auction. It's definitely a tough book to find in high grade.

That's what I figured, he wanted to sell them in 10 pack lots, OR....they were old bags and boards...whatever....if I find them (Brother J wrote:I'm assuming you're talking store sticker prices on the bags, not directly on the comics...![]()

Oh, and yes, your assumption that they were on the BAGS is safe. Had they been on the comics, Antonio and I would have had words....

I love the description cause it just reeks of simpson "Comic Guy" wording.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... eName=WDVW
Apparently he wants people to bid on this book but not anyone who wants to actually COLLECT a book that didn't come from the trash. If your one of THOSE people don't bid!
Then he goes on to justify how this comic was actually read and he doesn't like people who apparently store thier comics away safely. Oh, and it will cost you $20. Just imagine the guy from the Simpsons doing a voice over when you read it and you're be laughing like I was.
Best deal ever.
