Re: VALIANT COMICS 2nd, 3rd, 4th (etc) Print Releases
Just thinking about thee 2nd 3rd 4th prints of valiant.
Was in my head about SAGA comic series ~ quite successful, with print run INCREASING each issue after issue 1 untill it leveled off.
Valiant books usually drop after the 1st issue, so I wonder the nessesity of 2nd 3rd 4th Prints. Surely these are used to feed peoples desire of reading issue one ( after it has sold out) and so issue 2 has a higher print run.
Yet we see alot of printings, yet the numbers are not increasing with issue 2 / 3/ 4.
Just saying, was tinking about it

I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

More reorder demand for certain issues can occur than expected.

Re: VALIANT COMICS 2nd, 3rd, 4th (etc) Print Releases
But where are they now?
These readers, tat demandeed to read issue one?
Is their a massive sub culture that collect first issues?

Re: VALIANT COMICS 2nd, 3rd, 4th (etc) Print Releases
These subsequent prints are printed along with the 1st prints and used as a marketing tool by the publishers. There is no way there is any demand for a 2nd print of Dr. Mirage, but yet we have one.Phantom wrote:Just thinking about thee 2nd 3rd 4th prints of valiant.

Re: VALIANT COMICS 2nd, 3rd, 4th (etc) Print Releases
That's not completely true. My LCS doesn't order anything above subscriptions for anything other than the major books. Even popular Image books are gone by the time I get to my LCS on the weekend. He only orders 1-2 of each book and for less popular stuff, he doesn't order at all unless a subscriber asks for it. As such, if he forgets to order a book for me, I have to remind him and he places an order for it. If it is sold out at the distributor level, then I end up with a second print if one is available. It's all distribution. I'm sure there are tons of big stores that have extra lying around, but other stores sell out and need to get copies for customers in order to make sales. Reprints also make it possible to wait until buzz about how good a book is to get the subsequent issues as they are released and not miss a first issue since a 2nd print is available. It is used heavily as a marketing tool, but additional printings do serve a purpose.rjrjr wrote:These subsequent prints are printed along with the 1st prints and used as a marketing tool by the publishers. Comics go back to the printer all the time due to demand for them. Some seem more obscure than others.

Re: VALIANT COMICS 2nd, 3rd, 4th (etc) Print Releases
lordddunlow ~ I am not calling you a liar, I am just going to disagree with you.
LAIR LAIR LAIR PANTS ON FIRE
I just don't see a company in the business of selling comics ~ overprinting is print run at a massive loss to itself, holdding out to release a 3rd or 4th print.
Paying storage fees, holding books back from the customer, making them wait while they decide wen to ship printrun 3 and 4 ( sometimes waiting a long time(paying diamond again to ship the books may not be a problem).
I just don't undderstand the logistics of what you are saying. Surely Shipping one book, is more cost efficent than sending it out 3 or 4 times.
2nd print I am not so sure about in this aspect, as most first issues have gone to second print. But it took a LOONG time for Dr Mirage 2nd print to be solicited ( di it? maybe I am mistaken on that issue ~ do not dimiss my agruement based on that ~ like I dimiss you arguement completely with no evidance to support myself ).
What about the xo issue that was cancelled? They are sitting on the of 3rd print xo manowars, just in storage waiting?
Not providing an arguement ~ just a discussion
2nd print on big launch maybe, but 4th print after so long ~ ?
