You could have every character talk like Archer and have no sexual content at all, and it would still need an R rating for violence if it were to stay true to the books.Blood of Heroes wrote:If it's anything like the first issue, I'd hope so.CallMeBloodshot wrote:
Anyone have any thoughts or news on the Bloodshot film? I think it goes without saying an R rating is necessary.

Yep. Because we need moments like this, a personal favorite scene of mine where Bloodshot uses his nearly severed arm's bone as a weaponlorddunlow wrote:You could have every character talk like Archer and have no sexual content at all, and it would still need an R rating for violence if it were to stay true to the books.Blood of Heroes wrote:If it's anything like the first issue, I'd hope so.CallMeBloodshot wrote:

Marvel has the advantage over DC in that Marvel has had better creator consistency over the last decade than DC has. Bendis on Avengers, Brubaker on Cap, Fraction on Iron Man, Hickman on FF, Slott on Spidey, the X-titles were shaky for a bit but settled down eventually. It allowed for a better creative cohesion.
All NOW! did was shake-up the creator rosters on the books. But the success of their movies had bled over into the comics. Avengers Assemble by Bendis premiered just after the release of the movie, featuring the exact movie roster. Marcus, Nick Fury's illegitimate son, was introduced around the same time, looking exactly like the Great Samuel L. Jackson. Coulson later appears as well. At my last counting, Marvel is currently publishing 10 titles associated with the Avengers as a group.
I can understand this overlap (BTW, it's bleeding over into their cartoons. Ultimate Spider-Man has Jackson Fury and Coulson, even the late and lamented Wolverine and the X-Men had Jackson Fury as well). But I don't like it. I'm old-fashioned, my Nick Fury is a white, crotchety, war-horse who lead the Howling Commandos during the War. Marvel has gone overboard on the Avengers, their love affair with mega-events grows more dominating every year. I came across a lovable quote of Busiek's relating to this matter, back when he was writing the Avengers with Perez, to paraphrase: There should only ever be one Avengers title. Because they are Earth's Mightiest Heroes, what would that say about any other team?
I find that Valiant has so far avoided these pitfalls and inclinations. They want their properties to be successful, only in the right, mature manner.
