That's right. My 1400 page epic Geoff, The God of Biscuits that I have written and drawn over the past 18 years is the rarest. Even has my blood in the ink.
:o

I hear this brings huge bids in the Phillipines. Where are you going to vacation for life once you sell this?
You're right, big fan base in the Phillipines. Why do you think this guy is selling his Bloodshot Platinum? Down payment on my book. :)
And who says I'm retiring? Gonna start my second opus - Sven: A Spider's Tale. It's the history of the Valiant U as seen through the eyes of a prominent alien being.

Does anyone want to take a guess at it's potential CGC grade based on the pictures in the listing? I'd hate to spend $1,000 or more on this and it be less than a 9.6. Thoughts?

Well how many graded issues are less than 9.6? Chromium comics are built tough, why not ask the seller for more scans. Considering he's dicked the buyers around, it's the least he could do for you. ;)

I was just asking the question in general out of curiosity and to generate moe conversation. I did not bid on the previous auction, nor do I plan to bid on the current listing.

I feel like I am in the small minority here, but I don't see anything wrong with taking down the listing and re-listing it.

I know I have been bidding/interested in listings that have been taken down, and while I've been miffed (and at times more than miffed) my opinion is that a person can do whatever they like with their item. If they want to sell it.... then not sell it, then re-list it. It's their decision. IMO, it's bad business but it is their book.

Well then my comment about it 'probably' being a 9.6, maybe 9.8 is what i'm gonna guess (considering he was a dealer and probably took good care of variant covers)...I don't think there's really that much of a different between 9.6/9.8 for this, as the book is so rare anyway. I agree with you for that I would not want to spend 1k+ to get less than a 9.4

Good point Elveen. The seller certainly takes the risk of winning buyers walking away, and snipers (those apparently not active in the auction) that had set a snipe forget about the second auction, or just miss it entirely.

So the seller copied some content I'm assuming from the Valiant Fan site that actually provided a good education on printing variants.

Multiple printer errors are known for some regular issue Valiant comics.
Issues of Harbinger #1 thru #6 are known to exist with blank coupons.
Ninjak #1 has been found without any white coloring on the cover.
X-O Manowar #0 has been seen with very light white coloring,
and also very dark "ivory" white coloring on the cover.
Some covers of Magnus #25 have no foil on the upper section.

How rare is that Magnus #25 partial cover?

My biggest issue is that if, as ebay wants, a bid is considered a "contract" and you have to jump through hoops to remove a bid, placing an item up for auction should be considered the same.

Are there any known fakes of this issue? What would that entail? Scrubbing of the gold off the cover?

I was just curious......some posts indicated that this might be fishy since it was in Malaysia. It would be silly imo if they were making these fom scratch as it would become apparent very quickly if these started showing up in numbers. So the only other way to fake it would be to alter an existing similar book.....i.e. the golds.

Am I missing somethign or were people just hinting that he may not have it at all................?

I remember Jedi doing something like that a few years ago. He found that the clear layer on the chromium books can be separated and peeled back (he even posted a pic). He showed that it was possible to get at the inner layer, but I think that's as far as he got though. I don't remember him getting the clear back in place (that would be the tricky part).

I've heard rumours about fake Venom Blacks, but I don't know enough about them to comment on the process. I think if someone could pull it off they would only do 1-2 max (and sell them very far apart), otherwise it would just seem to coincidental.

while I'm sure it's technically possible... I severely doubt that it would be faked for a $800+ book when(I'm guessing...) it would likely take many thousands of dollars in Equipment to make a believable double and then the books would immediately begin to drop in price as the counterfeits were sold since it wouldn't be so rare.

Valiant Entertainment should totally make a limited 500 print collectible error reprint edition and sell it for $100. :D Then us only "semi-crazies" might have a chance at it
It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

It's like the Batman 497 fake platinums that went around Ebay for a little while. Someone did a very impressive job of making these, and there were only a few. Just enough to spark interest.

Thank goodness I passed on the one auction I caught.

Yeah, I'm not getting the concern here.

Ebay Buyer Protection puts all the burden on the seller to deliver, and prove delivery occurred. Otherwise, instant refund. And with the dollar amount of this book, Ebay will require signature confirmation or instant refund as anything $250 or more this is the expectation.

I sent 2pcs Star wars Original Art Page to U.S. just 2 weeks ago worth $1810.00 and Did not lost in the Mail!

What Makes You say this things??
