It could be Harbinger but more realistically I think it will be whichever of the three Hardcovers sells the best.ManofTheAtom wrote:And it was a great start.iggy101us wrote:Agree, since the first HC is . . . . Remember, they are going to start generating the Comics at the end of the year, so it will give them plenty of time to see how A&A does before they decide wich book to go with.
As far as flip books go, I think they will get some titles going and then they could try the flipbooks a few issues in like the old Valiant did.
If you start with the flipbook from the beginning, it's tough to tell which character the book has the most interest in since you would have no prior sales data to guage what kind of increase you get in sales, if any.
But I could totally see starting a Bloodshot series and then doing a Rai flipbook around issue 5 or 6!

The reason why I think they will go with X-O first is because it's the most recognizable title.nutflush76 wrote:It could be Harbinger but more realistically I think it will be whichever of the three Hardcovers sells the best.ManofTheAtom wrote:And it was a great start.iggy101us wrote:Agree, since the first HC is . . . . I can see that after the regular titles are released.Daniel Jackson wrote:I would love to see a Mike LeRoi Shadowman hardcover.JustCallMeAric wrote:I think Shadowman has huge appeal and I am suprised we havent already seen a hardcover, either V1 or V3
I wonder what Shadowman they are going to use?
I do think that Jack Boniface is more popular that Zero.

Sadly (well, not that sad for me) the concept doesn't have room for a Shadowman without Darque.

Well, this time Jack could stick around longer. Oh, and he won't have a saxaphone shoved in a certain place......ManofTheAtom wrote:Which is what Ennis originally intended...Daniel Jackson wrote:I think they both have a place in the new VU to be honest.Elveen wrote:I can see that after the regular titles are released.Daniel Jackson wrote:I would love to see a Mike LeRoi Shadowman hardcover.JustCallMeAric wrote:I think Shadowman has huge appeal and I am suprised we havent already seen a hardcover, either V1 or V3

Jack died a decade ago ridding the world of the Darque power (that or he died fighting the VH 2 Darque. Choose your poison....)Daniel Jackson wrote:Well, this time Jack could stick around longer. So I am not saying I want this..... but
What if VEI DID bring back Jack Boniface as shadowman? What would you think? Is there any way in your opinion that it could work?

It really doesn't make a difference to me what path VEI chooses to go with. I like both characters, so whether they decide to keep Jack or go with LeRoi, it's fine with me.ManofTheAtom wrote:Jack died a decade ago ridding the world of the Darque power (that or he died fighting the *Acclaim (1997 series)* Darque. I like both also, but I might have to give Jack the nod if I could only have one. But I can see a way to have both of them in there.

Is Jack a saxophone player or an archeologist who believes that aliens built the pyramids (an in-joke for those who watch SG-1)?Elveen wrote:ManofTheAtom wrote:Jack died a decade ago ridding the world of the Darque power (that or he died fighting the *Acclaim (1997 series)* Darque. Sure, VEI could replace Elya's dialogue from Unity in the Shadowman HC to say that he's going to die in 2019, but that is counterproductive as all it does is move the finish line in order to pander to the fans instead of tell the character's story.
There is nothing whatsoever to gain from keeping the character around for the 10 years since his intended death and another decade after today.
The whole point of telling Jack the day of his death was to serve the story, and in many occasions it did just that, like in the Bloodrunners arc.
Why cheapen that?

But Playing God is fan fic, not a VEI comic.xodacia81 wrote:VEI can do whatever they want with the concepts, but so far, that is not what they HAVE done. I think there is a chance that "Playing God" could resolve concerns over Shadowman. But, there are ways to have a Shadowman title.
Joe Petrilak wrote his own version of how Jack survived the jump. It doesn't mean it's official.

Whatever happens next, everything is changed unless there is a radical turnabout with the GK properties, so canonicity may not be absolute.
We can't make any correct assumptions until we see published material. To base any arguments on 'what has gone before' when very important elements of 'what has gone before' are no longer available is trying to have an argument both ways. We look forward to a world of fiction returning, where anything can or could happen. Acceptence of what that 'anything' is by the audience depends very much on the creative skills used. I like to keep an open mind and feel that I will be pleasantly surprised and that the plan will have some flexibility dependent on what is seen to work and what is seen to not work so well.
Whilst I am disappointed that we haven't heard anything more concrete (such as which quarter of next year we are aiming for), I respect that any business has to act according to what is felt to be in the best interests of that business as a whole. Good luck VEI, my pull list waits for books to be added.

If the uni is to be Harbicentric, then I would suggest the uni will revolve around the harbinger wars...Geomancer wrote:Elveen wrote:I think that Harby will be first.
There are so many characters you can get into Harby.
Then X-O, Bloodshot, then the Eternal book. That should be good for about a year.
Unless of course they are going to do future books without Magnus, then maybe Rai.![]()
It seems that every superhero universe has a cornerstone, and that would be the title to lead things off with. Magnus and Solar did that the first time around until their worlds were woven together through future stories.
Just a few posts ago, i figured that whoever fills the role that Solar did would make for an ideal first title.
But perhaps that figure will remain in a god-like state that would be difficult to base an ongoing series upon. So Sting and the Harbingers could take that role instead with a Harbinger-centric VEI.
With that in mind - who ideally should the VEI 'universe' be built around?
