My first was Shadowman 1, followed shortly by Archer and Armstrong 0.

Both of the stories blew me away. I went and bought all the Unity stuff when it came out, but I didn't start actively collecting/reading Magnus, Rai & TFF, Bloodshot, and some others until much later.

Since I joined RIGHT before Unity, unforutnately I missed out on buying a lot of the back issues cheap. Luckilly I ended up getting most of them directly from Valiant, so it was still cheap (although it was a scattershot of issues - some here, some there).

Hey chris did valiant sell their comics direct to the customer before. I don't recall this. I do remember trying to get back issues from American entertainment but they were always sold out.

Jim Lee cover was the selling point.

Magnus Robot Fighter #22.

I had started reading comics before with the death of Superman. I'm not sure what made me decide to try Valiant (maybe I saw something in Wizard). But I do rember going back to the LCS the next day to buy more Valiant. I also didn't know at that point that Wednesday was new comic day. I started reading almost every Valiant title at that point. Of course, the pre-Unity titles were so popular that I couldn't get any of the back issues.

Welcome. Glad you made it over here from the CGS board.

The nice thing is that it is pretty easy to pick up those pre-unity issues now, and they they really are so good that they put everything that came after to shame!

Solar #11 - and I shoulda gotten #10 when it was still $8 on the wall of my LCS back then.

Then again, the dollar is weaker compared to it's 1992 counterpart, so I guess I really paid less..........

One of the TPB's. Not sure which one though. Was in a group home at the time and someone had donated boxes of comics which they used as rewards. Actually had all the TPB's at that point.

Zelda #2 was my first Valiant book. I saw Magnus #1 when it came out, thought the title sucked so I ignored it. I took a two year break from comics afterwards just to come back during the Valiant explosion. Go figure, I was kicking myself afterwards for passing up on Magnus.
