That is funny, even if you meant it seriously - sheerly because every thread around here turns "gay" somehow or another, so don't worry about anything like that.Sean Chen wrote:A statue of the Solar figure from issue #3 already exists. It is the one that was put out by Dynamic Forces. There are many pics of in on these boards under different headings.
Perhaps I can sculpt a companion Phil Seleski figure to put behind it so that it truly resembles issue #3 cover. The only thing that concerns me is that I might be accused of creating a gay scenario btw. the two figures as they appear in the cover.

how many chances does one get to see nuclear homosexual lovin' on their mantle every day when they come home from work??
but i do suggest the phil wear a leather hood with a zipper for the mouth...
by the way, before everyone stops talking to me i'd like to point out that this is, in reality, just a joke.
promise.

I think I might have a bit of a different perspective. I am not a hardcore valiant fan (sacralige I know...
), I just enjoy the universe and Solar was/is my favorite. I am also a statue fan. I must say I am torn. I would/will buy this given the opportunity. All the critiques I feel are valid as are all the rebutes(not including the nastiness that has since been removed from here
). I know what you are tying to convey with the pose and you succeed wonderfully. It is a very nice take on a BWS pose which is less masculine. I think that you should be targeting a more mainstream audience. And I think that the subtle wrist and hand changes that have been suggested would accomplish that goal. It is very nice I just think it needs to be tweeked for a more widespreda audience appeal.
BTW the lighting pop up reactor base idea is so cool I am drooling

I love this one, but for some reason, the merging cover of #2 appeals to me more.Daniel Jackson wrote:Sounds like a great idea to me. I'm in.x-omatic wrote:I have always thought a great idea for a Solar statue who be the cover of Solar 3. I really like the contrast of the characters and you could produce X number of one and then have the 2nd one made only to order from those who bought the first.
Take a look in the back of #2 and see the cover in the BLUE, as it was meant to be.

While that may be true for a widespread audience, the one Sean is talking about here is for us here on the VF.com site, not the one he's been in talks with a large company. I personally would rather have something that he's not going to offer to everyone else, and in fitting with this site, going with the spirit of the original Solar (and Sean's original pose) would work the best.stone384 wrote:It is a very nice take on a BWS pose which is less masculine. The prototype I saw in NYC looked cool enough, and when I heard these guys talking about a light-up base, I did the same thing - start drooling..........BTW the lighting pop up reactor base idea is so cool I am drooling![]()

The way that I read Svair and Sean's posts, they read as though this statue IS the one that will be mass marketed. The mold would be the same. The difference would be that Sean works on these himself, while others work on the mass produced ones.slym2none wrote:While that may be true for a widespread audience, the one Sean is talking about here is for us here on the VF.com site, not the one he's been in talks with a large company. Well, that's the way I understood it. That's why I gave an honest comment stating that while the members of this board might dig it, it would probably sell better with a different pose for that hand.
I think it may help Sean receive better (more informative) responses if we understood exactly what the case is. Are the ones for VF.com COMPLETELY different or is it the same mold that will be put out by the company?

Edited your quote a bit, John, but I had to get to this.svair wrote:here's the story on the Solar's..
Again, the statues Sean makes for us (VF.com) will each be individually worked on and painted by Sean...
The ones for the unnamed company will be using his sculpt and others will be doing the finishes and painting..
If anyone has any questions let me know...
Yep, it seems that the same mold will be used for the VF.com statues and the "large company's." So... maybe Sean can make the VF.com edition the way it is and change the hand for the mass-market edition????? That would give his project a little more "air of exclusivity," no?
I apologise to anyone who took my posts above the wrong way. My point still stands, but I mis-understood and thought that these two statues were to be different beasts altogether.
I also apologise to Sean personally for calling this statue a "beast" in the above line.

It can't be gay - it's himself. That's just masturbation...Sean Chen wrote:A statue of the Solar figure from issue #3 already exists. It is the one that was put out by Dynamic Forces. There are many pics of in on these boards under different headings.
