It's basically a pullback cover, it wasn't distributed properly and has always been very available. Anyone selling this as a 1:50 is a crook, or just ignorant.

I think it was a Diamond screw up where they mixed the covers up. It's actually more difficult to find the pillbox variant than the limited variant for this issue. I pass them up unless the condition is flawless, no matter the price.

Wanted to ask perhaps you already discussed it. I have a lot of
Rai 0s and eternal warrior 4s. Not long ago rai 0s were worth about a
Buck or two and the same with the ew4. Noticed people asking
About 20 for the rai 0s and 50+ on ew4. Are there actually sales
Being made at these prices or are prices just jacked up
But not much in sales? Not looking to sell just would like to
Break even on what I paid a long time ago.

Without being part of the transaction ourselves, the only thing we can know about sales is what appears in eBay's "sold" lists.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/Comics-/63/i.ht ... ld=1&rt=nc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I never consider eBay items without bids (just an asking price) to be the "price" of anything... except maybe the "no one will buy it at this price" price.
Lots of people use the phrase "it's selling for $X on eBay" when someone lists one for $X and it has no bids. That's not selling.

Looking at the buyers of actual sold items, it's also suspicious when high priced books sell to zero feedback buyers, but I'm seeing very high feedback bidders:
http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 7675.l2565" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For now, there is more demand than supply... if we get back to the point that supply is higher than demand... the prices will fall.
I would be very surprised if Rai #0 or Eternal Warrior #4 become dollar books again... but there are probably dollar bins somewhere with them still in it.
Comic shop owners aren't looking for 20+ year old non-Marvel/DC books to become $50 overnight... so they're not realizing it has happened.

Talking with a couple of shop owners over the last few weeks, they were not aware VEI was even trying to make movies. I have been able to buy some nice stuff cheap because of this.

I imagine it is hard to keep up on the movieside of comic properties when running a shop. There is so much work and then you have to find news on publishers making films and probably don't find out until after someone cleans out your key issues.

Over the past 15 years, most comic shops have already been cleaned out of Valiant key issues... even before 2012.
The exceptions are areas where there isn't a single Valiant fan... or inventory that has been stored rather than browsed.

We hold our fingers FIRMLY on the pulse of all things Valiant. In a sense, we are experts, specialists, and obsessed collectors/speculators/investors.

Like many fields of interest, the facts, data, and/or information is out there and/or available for anyone to get their hands on and use. The problem is "tunnel vision" or "limited focus" wrt what a given LCS owner/employee is interested in and/or values personally vs what he/she simply does not pay attention too or is unaware of all together.

Music, art, dance, food, and many other interests are often quite "trendy" and awareness of such things is typically limited to the social group that collectively shares/socializes information about those interests with one another. An example of this would be an office worker talking about the amazing Cambodian food they had last weekend, and the other office workers then becoming interested/intrigued/motivated in Cambodian food as well simply because it's a "trendy" topic in the office and everyone wants to share common ground and/or be included in the discussion.

Likewise, depending on the LCS, Valiant might NOT be the "trendy" thing, and therefore might very well be ignored regardless of MAJOR announcements, movie deals, and/or market activity. This is, until MORE LCS's start discussing, articles are published, and films are released. THEN we reach a point where it is quite difficult to ignore (e.g. Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, etc) and the LARGER society influences the smaller one.

In the meantime, we win because we are the early trendsetters, while much of the comic book community suffers from Deadpool and/or Harley Quinn "tunnel vision".

It is also difficult for a person to focus 24/7 on ALL comic book market activity, and might take several months before that person catches on.

For the most part I agree with DBS, one minor point I would add. Many LCS's simply do not care. To put in perspective these are generally people who hoped to make a living doing something they loved, but like all of they may have tired after 5,10 or even 20 years. While we as collectors love the news and gossip, this is a very grinding business as anyone in it will tell you. The deeper in it you go it seems, the less love for it you will have. And on a week to week basis they are staring at 100+ issues (give or take). Think how far behind some of us are on our reading. They too have families and hobbies and other things they may want to do, even if it is just sleep. :P . I am just saying that Marvel executives are a far different breed from Valiant execs, as Collectors Paradise is from a lot of other comic shops.

Owning Valiant keys is a heavy responsibility. Many shops can't bear such a burden, and as such, have been relieved of such a responsibility by board members. :D

There's a shop about an hour and a half south of me that I just checked out last week. Found sets of all pre-unity Valiants usually consisting of #1-6. And yes, Harbinger was one of them with all coupons intact. They varied from $20-30 a set and I bought em all. Even had a Eternal Warrior #1-6 for under $20 and the #4 was in NM/MT. So I totally buy into the shop attitude of they just don't care/don't have to the time to keep up on stuff that's not Marvel/DC related. And that's alright with me!

Yes. Shops that don't love Valiant must pay for their insolence!

Totally agree! I found around 8 key first appearance books, including Solar 3 and Magnus 5 for $3.00 each in a shop in Missouri. This is the same shop where I found a Unity #1 3D variant on release day for $7.99. :o

The local LCS chain I go to unfortunately has kept up with the pricing and have very few deals left to be had, I believe I got the last couple, and they weren't steals. I wish they would stop be observant and hearing what i say, though it's been the only way I have got them to get all the new Valiant for me. :?

I sold a Rai 0 for $25 ppd a few days ago on eBay.

The EW4 sales, which are stronger, are legion.

I can't believe it either.

I'm sending 18 EW 4s to CGC next week, no prescreen. I think most of them are 9.8s. We shall see.

Also sending a few Harbinger 1, Rai 0, Shadowman 1, etc. No prescreen. I might have a couple 9.4s. It's possible.

Anyone see that Archer 0 Gold 9.8 sell on eBay for $500!

I sold a VERY nice EW4 for $45 + $4.50 shipping this weekend within a few hours of listing. I listed it at 9.6, and I think it was at least that strong.

I have 10 more copies now, and at least half of those are in the same condition. Seriously considering paring back my collection if I can keep getting those prices.
