If Sony, Nintendo, MS, and anyone else making gaming consoles keep making "new generation" consoles, doesn't that mean we the customer has to keep buying new consoles to play the new games being put out?
I really liked (and bought) the PS2 a lot for it's ability to play PS1 games. Now, games cost over $50, there's the next-gen console coming out every 3-4 years, and none are backwards compatible. I'd love to be able to play the new Batman game talked about in the thread right below this one, but no-one would make a PS2 version, I bet...
I understand technology is going to keep going forward, by leaps and bounds mostly, but should I be forced to buy a new gaming system just to be able to play new games? Don't tell me technology isn't so advanced that they can't make new games for older systems!

Really...? Well, I guess we will have to see, then. Sony always seems to be on the cutting edge of tech, and therefore I am thinking they wouldn't want to get "left behind" and with as many "Red Rings Of Death" I hear about here and other boards, I'd really be surprised if MS didn't come out with something else, and soon...
These are only my thoughts and opinions - take them how you will.

I picked up Lost Planet out of my collection and played it for quite a while last night... I forgot how much fun it was (even for a Capcom game). With Lost Planet 2 coming out in the somewhat near future, this would be a good one to finish. Lost Planet 2 now has jungle environments, which should be lush and exciting.
I put in the OXM disc (from Xbox magazine) and did the backwards compatibility update and now NONE of my old Xbox games work, at all. Any ideas or how to undo the update ?

I was a HUGE fan of the arcade game. Our Pizza Hut at the time had a separate game room and they had it and I played it every time we went. I was really excited when I heard about it coming out for the NES. And boy was I disappointed. I hated the NES version. But the new version for the Wii looks pretty good and was one of the reasons I had originally decided on the Wii. But I can play the original arcade Punch-Out on MAME on the original Xbox, so I'm good.Daniel Jackson wrote:I was never a big fan of the original game, but a lot my friends really loved it.Todd Luck wrote:The new Punch Out out on May 19.maraxusofkeld wrote:Very well said, did anyone see the Wii trailer for the new Punchout? Reminds me of one of my friends. A bunch of us used to go to Godfathers Pizza and he would end up spending all of his time in their arcade room playing Punch-Out. If we wanted to talk to him, we had to leave our table and stand next to the game machine.....Heath wrote:I was a HUGE fan of the arcade game. There should be a spot on your HD for updates. I am not at home right now so I cannot give you a better response. I will check when I get home this weekend.Knightt wrote:I picked up Lost Planet out of my collection and played it for quite a while last night... Just got Pro on WiiSports Tennis. Just baseball and boxing left to get Pro in (though I may have reached my skill barrier in both). And I didn't know on the tennis training game with the bullseye you that could knock holes in the wall if you hit the same spot on the wall enough (now there's a WiiWare game waiting to happen: Break Out meets Top Spin
)
I'm also playing the unlocked arcade games on Shenmue II. I love Space Harrier and Hang On. The "ouch" sound Harry makes when he runs into bushes is hilarious in Space Harrier. I just hate that this version of the games have no continues or ways to add additional live so it's impossible for mere mortals to get very far.

I'm currently playing RE5 on the 360. This is the first game I've ever played on the 360, so getting used to the controller had a bit of a learning curve. I played the ever living garbonzos out of RE4 and the controls for RE5 are opposite to the default setting for RE4.
After getting schooled on Amateaur, I am FINALLY getting used to the 360 controller. It's a pretty cool game and I'm enjoying it. Just wish there was a more efficient saving game feature.
I agree with Chris the Sheeva can go thru bullets pretty quick. Only having 18 total slots to hold stuff takes a getting used to.

Stumbled upon a copy of Super Punch Out! for the Super NES just laying on a table at a comic shop with a few other games. It was only $2 bucks. Really wasn't expecting it to work but after a few tries putting it in the old Super NES it works like a charm. Not sure how far I'll get in it. I beat the Minor Circuit fairly easily but Dragon Chan is kicking my butt something awful. Still fun as hell regardless.

If I recall, there was a cheap way of getting around Chan...Todd Luck wrote:Stumbled upon a copy of Super Punch Out! for the Super NES just laying on a table at a comic shop with a few other games. My brother bought one for his SNES, but I don't think he used very much. We played Battletoads with it a few times and after several levels it would cause the game to hang up. Did that ever happen to you on any games?Chiclo wrote:I've still got several Game Genies.Daniel Jackson wrote:Hahaha....yeah, use a game genie......xodacia81 wrote:If I recall, there was a cheap way of getting around Chan...Todd Luck wrote:Stumbled upon a copy of Super Punch Out! for the Super NES just laying on a table at a comic shop with a few other games. Not with any of the codes that came in the little books that came with the Game Genies.Daniel Jackson wrote:My brother bought one for his SNES, but I don't think he used very much. I did spend a couple of summers hacking those codes and some of those proved to be a little buggy.

I have not played tennis in a while, but I was addicted for a bit. I'm not sure of my exact "score" but I remember the first time I won the match, but I actually dropped in ranking.
Wii is cool.
