The bottom left corner alone would keep it out of the 9.0 grade.X-O HoboJoe wrote:This is actually one sweet-arse book, I'm just not too sure if I can see it as a 9.0 grade? Am I being too critical?

That's what I was thinking too. I can see why someone with the auctions he's go going would MAYBE justify keeping it private, but calling that 9.0 with that corner flaw . . . I've heard that CGC is "easy" on GA books, but if I somehow could pull the jack to pay for this book, I'd demand a resto-check before I'd let the funds clear, and I wouldn't expect a 9.0. 7.5 to 8.0 at best? Sound about right, based on what you can see?400yrs wrote:The bottom left corner alone would keep it out of the 9.0 grade.X-O HoboJoe wrote:This is actually one sweet-arse book, I'm just not too sure if I can see it as a 9.0 grade? I'm no expert, but based on what I can see there, I'd say 7.5 is about right. Considering it is GA, maybe 8.0. It would of course depend on what exactly is going on with that bottom left corner (cover crease only or a bend through the book?) and how the rest of the book (especially the back) looks.X-O HoboJoe wrote:That's what I was thinking too. It sucks that on a book this expensive the guy only included one picture and NO picture of the back. The front scan is pretty crappy as well. His description sucks too. Do you recognize this seller or is did this guy come out of the blue?
Frankly, I'd be a little leary of getting ZWH's Batman 11 treatment on this book. Still if you can work it out to withhold funds until you are satisfied, it might be worth it. Good luck.

Way outta my league too!! Grade-wise, though, I'd say the seller definitely overgrades.X-O HoboJoe wrote:400yrs wrote:Do you recognize this seller or is did this guy come out of the blue?

Looks like a scam! First off that Fantastic Four 1 IS in a cgc case. The seller is cropping the picture but if you look closely enough you can tell. Second, "low reserve" not being met when it's past 12,000 means cheese factor (not a scam persay but kinda strange) and lastly what Greg mentioned as beautiful books NOT being cgc (or mentioned as such since they are) and private feedback? This just reeks of scam.greg wrote:Doesn't sound critical to me...X-O HoboJoe wrote:This is actually one sweet-arse book, I'm just not too sure if I can see it as a 9.0 grade? You've got a five-figure book being sold without CGC
by a seller whose feedback is private.
Something's just not right. (Restoration is my guess.)
Someone email the seller and say they are in the area and would like to stop buy and look at the books. See if they try and find some excuse for you not coming over.

"The condition of this vintage comic, Near Mint, is amazing,
as the only flaws I can find are the gentle creases at the binding, one bumpy crease, not a fold, on front cover, located 1’ from bottom right, 2 gentle creases and a few yellow stains on back cover. A couple of pages have little dots and rips, less than ¼”, on bottoms, looks like staple holes…???"

Total *SQUEE*. I mean TOTAL.
I win ONE damn book from this *SQUEE*, for $1. ONE FREAKIN' DOLLAR.
Sooooo...I e-mail saying 'ok to bid more?' Got no response, but no biggie, just won some more.
So *SQUEE* files an alert, and LEAVES NEGATIVE FEEDBACK 13 days after the auction ended, WITH NOT ONE SINGLE E-MAIL.
I e-mail back saying 'Dude....OBVIOUSLY I was trying to combine, what happened to my e-mail?'
*SQUEE* says 'You never contacted me, so there. No sale.'
So, I file everything I can, which is useless, because eBay DOESN'T *SQUEE* CARE, and, hey, their phone number is disconnected, whaddaya know?
So, I think the seller was *SQUEE* at the low price, and used this excuse to not sell.
Bidders can be kicked off of eBay for THREE NPBs, but sellers aren't.
ODD, wouldn't you say? DOUBLE STANDARD, much?
Contract, people. Contract.
And you all wonder why I play the eBay system? THIS IS WHY.
What a moron. E-mail him, anyone who wants, and let him know what a dumbass he is.

Well, BLESS my stars n' garters! No sooner did I report the *SQUEE* for having invalid contact info, than eBay...ON THEIR OWN, and in LESS THAN 24 HOURS...replied, saying 'your request (??) meets preliminary requirements for feedback removal, and we will give you final notice soon'...followed a couple hours ago by 'because the contact info for the user is invalid, we have removed the feedback from your profile'...ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6530767489

Well stick my finger in a light socket and call me Sparky, cause I am SHOCKED!
I didn't even ASK to have the FB removed! How freakin cool is THAT??
Score one for the good guys!!!

Still, though...the *SQUEE* didn't live up to his end of the contract.
But man.....eBay FINALLY comes through, in decent time! Right on!
