Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
I effectively paid $34 for another copy, shipped. As is the case with a lot of the incentive variants, now is the time to get them cheap unless the title tanks.

Misquote of $24, not $34.

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
Let me say this...
Legends of the Geomancer is mandatory reading!!!
It is so good and important to the ENTIRE VIALIANT UNIVERSE that if you don't manage to read it then you might as well quit reading all-together!
Don't let it slip by you, or nothing will make sense in the Valiant Universe for a LONG time!

I suppose it needs to be quickly placed between two heavy King James Bibles to protect it from fingers, air, or demons.

Seriously, this story tells us secrets that will be expanded upon in the next 3 issues of this book which affects everything we have come to know about the Legend of the Geomancer

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
I got mine today from my LCS in Australia.
We'd agreed on $25AU (about $18US) last week but when I went to pick it up the owner was going to charge $35AU!
Given I've been supporting Valiant since Bloodshoot #1 (2012) and have picked up pretty much every title since the relaunch he honored the $25AU. I was still pretty pi$$ed that he tried to bump up the price though...
He did mention there was something driving up the price but didn't go into detail - anyone having the same issues with price increase? I saw the Midtown email mentioned earlier but in-store pick-ups?
Looking forward to reading it later.

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
My LCS sold me the copy of LotG for cover price!!!
I had asked him about back in April when it was announced. Explained that it wasn't a cover but actual content. He knows I'm not a variant collector cause he was all, "Wait, it's a variant book? With different interior content, not a cover?" He said he'd look into it and let me know the markup. Well, he didn't so I was a bit worried I might not even get it as there are only THREE loyal "buy all VEI" customers at his store with over 200 hold subscribers.
I came in Wed afternoon and the clerk told me that only the 3 of us would get it for cover. Any "Johnny Come Lately's" would have to pay the marked up price...$40 at his store.
He doesn't ever, EVER, order more than about 20 copies of any VEI book cause even his "buy some VEI" customers aren't enough to break 20 on any one title and he had 150 copies of Book of Death on the shelf showcasing all 5 covers. I hope he manages to entice or just the display of the books gets 30-40 folks curious to try the main title.
My LCS owner went above and beyond for VEI on this one.

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
THIS! This is what every LCS that doesn't typically order much VEI should have done. What's the worst case scenario - you have to increase your orders on VEI books because there are new readers?Captain Craig wrote:My LCS sold me the copy of LotG for cover price!!!

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
The LCS nearest me is offering a money-back guarantee on Book of Death #1. I might actually go pick one up to encourage them, even thought I'm not a big fan of their store.
