Oh No you DIDn't!!!!!Elveen wrote:So I finally read Armorines vol2 #1-4.
Overall it was good. Not great, but better than just ok.
Issue #1 was really good (the best of the bunch). It introduced the Armorines the main characters. there was some good action, but the focus was on the characters and setting the plot.
I liked the back story they gave to Gunny, they took the time to develop his character. There was also some other characters that they fleshed out a bit, so that was nice.
The 90% of the art was very, very good I thought. Some it it looked rushed, but most was on point.
1) Now the bad. They under used the suits at times, and then overused them at times. There was no consistency and believability in the power of the suits. One minute they are trapped on a space ship that is taking them against their will to the spider alien's home base (just use your lasers and blast a hole in the ship and fly out) and then one time they wipe out entire gaggles of bugs in like 1 page. Not good, in fact bad.
The end was lame.....
SPOLIERS............
2) the Armorines are on the SA home base and they are looking like they are gonna die until X-O busts in the space ship and all the bugs get sucked out into space...... whaaaaaaaat? Why didn't they do that?
3) The spider alien that becomes their friend.![]()

No more needs to be said.
But even with the problems, it was still ok. The art is for sure nice. the character development is above average.
I think they had a good foundation for future stories, but alas no more stories.
Overall I give it..... 6 out of 10.
Dood-that is the same score you gave Ronin. I must protest.

Oopps. Maybe 4Hun is right.

I think Ronin's high points are higher, but I think some of the bad stuff on each is about the same.
So maybe I need to re-look at my ranking system.

Nah, that comment was just an observation, not something meant to change your thinking or insult you. If you like what you are reading, that's great.Elveen wrote: Oopps. Maybe 4Hun is right.![]()

I like reading reviews that tell both the positive and the negatives (if any). I find that they help me decide what to buy a little bit better so I can tell if something might or might not be for me.
A very exaggerated example - Someone writes a review saying that they loved a certain story. I then buy it based on the positive review. However, the reviewer forgot to mention that it's drawn in stick figures only and it's written in Aramaic. I probably would've been better off not reading that review in the first place. Yes, highly exaggerated, but I like to find out what someone likes and dislikes sometimes.
I picked up the Ronin issues that I was missing so eventually, I'll read it and compare scores.

why are you prejudiced against my stick figure comments in aramaic?400yrs wrote:Nah, that comment was just an observation, not something meant to change your thinking or insult you. If you like what you are reading, that's great.Elveen wrote: Oopps. Maybe 4Hun is right.![]()

Most likely, but like all things overrated, one should still experience it for themselves.
I can see why I had heard so much about Ronin, it does have a certain "flair" to it, but IMO, it does not deliver the content to merit such praise.
I wonder who will be the first one to make a Nature Boy comment?

Just finished Punisher: War Zone mini series. Ennis and Dillon at their finest, highly recommended for those who enjoy Ennis' Punisher.
Also read the new Punisher #1, I got it because it was 75% off through DCBS. Had no idea what was going on. I guess it might be enjoyable for those who are enjoying the latest Punisher War Journal series, which got the Punisher re-involved with the Marvel Universe, but I have no use for it.

I'm still working on my new issues and Watchmen which I'm enjoying a whole lot more than my last post on it (but I still have very mixed feelings 6 issues or so in).

New Avengers & Secret Invasion
I'm catching up on all these Avengers/Secret Invasion comics from the past two years!
Last night I got sucked in and read through these 25 issues:
New Avengers: Illuminati #1-5
New Avengers #26-39
Giant-Size Avengers vol. II #1
New Avengers Avengers vol. II #2
Secret Invasion #1-4
I'm really enjoying these books. Bendis has done a great job of creating a well-developed and well-seeded storyline that has me intrigued!
Next up:
Secret Invasion #5-8
Secret Invasion: Dark Reign
New Avengers #40-48
Avengers: the Initiative #1-20
Might Avengers #1-20

Damn, that's a lot of reading in one night. Prepared to be disappointed with Secret Invasion starting with #5 or 6 and definitely with the end of #8.Doorman wrote:I'm catching up on all these Avengers/Secret Invasion comics from the past two years!
