Good to hear they cleared it up for a few of you, although that was a very poor customer experience. Yikes!

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
They probably imposed the limit after your order and put it in the name of the comic.DirtbagSailor wrote:I'm still confused how I'm getting 4 copies when their limit is 1...
So, their database and email system just has code that says:
Your order for [QUANTITY] copies of [BOOK NAME] has been processed at a rate of [PRICE] each.
If they put "limit 1 per customer" in the name of the comic, that's the email you'd get from the code.

Given the way Midtown have been *SQUEE* with the whole issue to date, I think I'd be holding my breath until I opened the package and saw how many copies were actually in there.greg wrote:They probably imposed the limit after your order and put it in the name of the comic.DirtbagSailor wrote:I'm still confused how I'm getting 4 copies when their limit is 1...

Such a sketchy company. Seriously, even their website is *SQUEE* *SQUEE* and that's the only way they do business. Not to mention the blatently illegal foreign immigrant that's obviously answering EVERY email that goes in, based on the dodgy replies that are so often sent out by them to customers... :/

Merely out of honest curiosity because I'm not giving them my business, who do you recommend when buying issues like these? Mile High? Graham Crackers? Others? I'd like to give my business elsewhere. Ed/Zed is wonderful and I've given him business.Shadowman99 wrote:Given the way Midtown have been *SQUEE* with the whole issue to date, I think I'd be holding my breath until I opened the package and saw how many copies were actually in there.greg wrote:They probably imposed the limit after your order and put it in the name of the comic.DirtbagSailor wrote:I'm still confused how I'm getting 4 copies when their limit is 1...

I used to buy from Midtown's retail locations. They're a great store. I just think they automate a lot of their responses. I've had issues from them, but they've always fixed them for me.

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
Midtown is my LCS and generally they have very good customer service, so this whole issue surprises me. Case in point: this past weekend, they had a "not at Comic Con sale," with different sales at each of their stores. The downtown location had 20% off everything in the store all day long, and 30% for the first hour. Since you get $20 for every $100 spent on new books, you get about a 17% discount there, but that doesn't apply to supplies, so I took the opportunity to go to load up on supplies. I got to the store at 11:45 (with the 30% sale ending at noon), but there was a line outside the store to get in, and I didn't actually get into the store until about 12:05. Still, they accommodated everyone that was there, and announced that if you were on line to check out within a few minutes you'd be guaranteed the larger discount. They even had runners asking people on line if they could grab anything for them. When I got to the checkout, I asked whether they had any Valiant incentive variants behind the counter (sometimes they keep them on the wall behind the register, but sometimes the 1:10s are out with the regular books). They were out of the Bloodshot Reborn 1:20, but for asking about Valiant I was handed a Bloodshot Reborn 1 Gold. That, and the FCBD variants they had at the freebie tables at the entrance, made the trip especially nice.
If you're not a *SQUEE*, you're okay with me.

Yep, I agree KJJ. In person, it's a good joint with good staff. I was just up at the 45th Street store tonight, getting caught up on a bunch of titles. The advance-order LotG re-pricing issue is anomalous compared to the rest of my experiences with the shop.

Since I'm the only "Valiant guy" at my LCS I have to rely on places like Midtown to get some of the variants. Based on some of the reviews here it sounds like this was probably an isolated incident.

My LCS finally advised me today what my price will be for book one of LoTG. It will run me $24.95, which I am comfortable with
I was a bit nervous hearing what y'all were saying recently here plus looking at current eBay pre-order prices...eek!

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
So there is this bit in the Ivar Timewalker #7 preview, where Ivar said "I...thought Gilad didn't really have "supra-healing," it's his connection to the Earth that keeps him alive..
A FB friend of FVL then messaged:
Interesting. I didn't know that about Gilad either. I merely assumed that the boon made him immortal just like it did Aram.
How Gilad came back to life specifically, far as I can recall, is still unexplained, as is the first time he encountered a Geomancer.
To which FVL answered:
"LEGENDS OF THE GEOMANCER, out 7/15, goes into much of that."
This just ups the value of this series even more.

I hope there will be copies of BoD on the cheap out there. I buy any cheap Valiant books to gove away and someone has to be ordering a lot of these that won't sell.

You might want to give "paradise" an IM as he will likely have a ton of extra copies that you might be able to score a deal with him on?

Re: Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer
With the discount retailers receive, they're paying .80 a copy. So they would do better financially with this book to discount them to a dollar rather than return them (or as a last effort to sell them before returning them). Almost certainly the supply will exceed the demand, and I plan on waiting for discounts to offset the price paid for LotG.ilzuccone wrote:i would say almost all of them won't sell right? but then most of them will be returnedJoshua wrote:I hope there will be copies of BoD on the cheap out there. Wow. That is waaaaaay too much for this book.kjjohanson wrote:Just got back from Midtown. It's on their incentive wall at $50
I liked it, but it's only 16 pages (I believe) of story. That's like paying $5 for one Tic Tac.
