I think Dark Dominion 7 from Defiant is an undervalued gem. It's the first JG Jones pro work.

Re: Undervalued Gems
Guys, sorry to bother but I have a question in mind: is the Longbow Hunters #1 a "gem" (1st Shado)? I found a F copy (maybe higher, no creases on the covers, pages are super clean given it's age) of it for 5 euros.
Not wanting to flip it or whatever, I bought it because I want to own the 3 books in singles. Just curious.
Thanks!

The problem with that title is, outside of part of this board, how many people care? Is there something we can compare it to (for comparative analysis sake)?StarBrand wrote:I think Dark Dominion 7 from Defiant is an undervalued gem. It's the first JG Jones pro work.

For sure a book to pick up cheap. Shado is Ollies baby momma. They will address this in the future so yes...very undervalued.StarBrand wrote:I don't know the answer to that. I guess there is plenty of offer in NM territory, given this was a prestige series and all that.Elveen wrote:ShadowTuga wrote:Mighty thanks, Ramses!!!Ramses818 wrote:For sure a book to pick up cheap. I just find it odd that it is so cheap. Shado, at least to me, is one of the top 5 most important GA characters.
AND this is the book where Oliver gets the Hood. Big Plus.

Re: Undervalued Gems
I think a lot of the early Ultimate books are at nice prices, not really sure if they would ever see a resurgence, but really loved early Ultimate X-men, Spiderman, and the Ultimates. Most of these can be had for a $1 or less with the exception of Ultimate Spiderman #1.

Jim Lee inked that Samurai Santa book. I wonder what his first pro job as a penciler was.

Jim Lee also drew ONLY the covers to The Transformers #27 and #53 in 1987 and 1988 respectfully for Marvel.

Re: Undervalued Gems
Just saw this post. Oops. I think we'd have to identify a creator as similar to Jones as possible whose first work appeared in the mid-nineties. The thing that makes it so undervalued is it practically has no value over common comic prices, and that will certainly correct at some point in my opinion.GGSAE wrote:The problem with that title is, outside of part of this board, how many people care? Re: Undervalued Gems
Agreed. You are no doubt, correct. Yet those first works of creators you mentioned are worth far more than Dark Dominion 7 as far as what they're selling for. Dark Dominion 7 sells at the price of a common comic, and that's what makes it undervalued in my opinion. I sent a couple Dark Dominion 7s in for grading, and I called CGC and told them I wanted to make sure they denoted my copies as the first JG Jones pro work. I was told Jones is an important enough creator for them to do that, and they would research Dark Dominion 7 to see if it was indeed his first pro work, and if so they would put it in their system to note that on Dark Dominion 7.Elveen wrote:Yeah but JG Jones is not McFarlane.
