AWESOME!)
de·fen·es·trate
dēˈfenəˌstrāt/
verb
1.throw (someone) out of a window.
Seems about right to me.

Yes. This.Chiclo wrote:
Spell check is doing its fair share to ruin western civilization. Editing texts has fallen by the wayside and words that sound close to the correct one are overlooked because "it passed spellcheck". I am referring to common, easy to identify errors like switching affect and effect or even odd ones like have and of.

Gotcha. No snark was intended. You made me second guess it, and I went looking.Chiclo wrote:I did not mean to say that it was incorrect, only that I have so infrequently encountered it in the infinitive that it feels strange and awkward.

While I haven't read every Astro City comic published, my take is that it plays on archetypes rather than makes fun of tropes.jmatt wrote:Sounds very Astro City now that I think about it.grendeljd wrote:+1jmatt wrote:That's awesome.kjjohanson wrote:I often thought it would be a hoot if there was a superhero called the Defenestrator, whose arch enemy would have an underground lair.

Not tropes, just the name. The Defenestrator reminds me of The Confessor in an odd way. Busiek names a lot of his solo characters with a definite article, like The Samaritan or The Hanged Man or The Gentleman. We don't often think of The Daredevil or The Hawkeye or The Thor.kjjohanson wrote:While I haven't read every Astro City comic published, my take is that it plays on archetypes rather than makes fun of tropes.jmatt wrote:Sounds very Astro City now that I think about it.grendeljd wrote:+1jmatt wrote:That's awesome.kjjohanson wrote:I often thought it would be a hoot if there was a superhero called the Defenestrator, whose arch enemy would have an underground lair.

I finally got caught with Harbinger. What an amazing book. I can't believe what #24 will be like. #25 is going to be off the chart.
Great job Valiant! Keep up the good work.

Whew! I hate to say it but I'm glad that it was Flamingo that bit the dust. She was my least favorite member of the team. I love all the rest.
Favorite books: Black Hammer, Bloodshot, Divinity, Justice League Dark, Marvel Two-In-One, Thor.
