Re: Hello, Rai
Just had a random thought, and I don't remember seeing anyone discuss it for sure but it was kind of an assumption. After the interviews with Kindt about the world of Rai and where he fits into it... Rai is the protector of Japan... serving 'Father' who rules the nation-city. Father = Sentient City ala Timewalker??? HAHAHA! That would make Rai... THE SWORD OF THE WHEEL!
If others have already pointed this out I apoligize and defer to them, but it just hit me as I was thinking about what I saw in Eternal Warrior #5 last night. The banners on the towers in the city they are going to have gears on them. Gears = House of the Wheel?? I had though that maybe the sentient cities / Japan would be the ultimate expression of the House of the Wheel's technological religion. I guess there could be more than one base though and those in EW #5 could just be what's left of those able to build the machines in America.
Carry on with your flag symbol controversy talk though, by all means.

Re: Hello, Rai
I just started a new thread so that those that don't wish to discuss the issue can have a clean thread here.Phoenix8008 wrote:Carry on with your flag symbol controversy talk though, by all means.
The other thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=42601" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I actually brought up Rai as a possible Sword of the Wheel in the EW #4 discussion thread when we were talking about the different houses. It just seems too perfect to pass up.
*SQUEE* your science, I have a machine gun.

Re: Hello, Rai
The Gods are dead in 4001
There are no houses anymore
That's why I think the House of the Wheel city in EW is a chaotic steam punk mess
Maybe they'll be some connection between Rai, Japan, Father and the Gods/houses .. but for the most part I think Kindt is building his own mythology with Rai.

Re: Hello, Rai
Entirely possible. But just because Gilad is 'the Godkiller' doesn't mean he killed ALL of the Gods. Very possible that Kindt's world is almost totally seperate from The Gods and their Houses shown in EW. Why drag someone else's stories into the least comprehensible and worst explained backstory that is the Eternal Warrior first arc.bygranddesign wrote:The Gods are dead in 4001

All this time I'm reading, I'm like "Stormbreaker... why has no one mentioned Stormbreaker yet?"magnusr wrote:Spot on. Surprised noone's brought this up yet:Magnus9178 wrote:Maybe, just maybe the design was intentional. What if this is a future Imperialistic Japan?

PS, personally I actually think the design is a big mistake if it's not intentional. The japanese war crimes really were horrible.
Thank you!

Re: Hello, Rai
I was thinking the same as I was reading through the thread, but from my understanding (I've never read the actual book), Stormbreaker was best left forgotten.KXXX wrote:All this time I'm reading, I'm like "Stormbreaker... why has no one mentioned Stormbreaker yet?"magnusr wrote:Spot on. A lot of the Acclaim stuff was bad, but the Tuetonic Knight was an awesome bad guy and Operation Stormbreaker was a pretty decent read. TK also appears in a couple of issues of Dr. Tomorrow.
