The name doesn't need to be mentioned, all you need to do is look at her and see that she's Lydia.BloodOfHeroes wrote:Is the name "Lydia" mentioned in SOLAR:MOTA #16? I skimmed it and didn't see it there. Are some people assuming or am I a poor speed-reader? Or both?
Unless you're like Aram and see Solar but think Magnus, heh.

There was a biologically engineered "female" spider alien in HARDCorps #6, I think, who looked human but who couldn't have been Lydia, based on chronology and publication history.
I'll accept the "little known fact," but NOT "cuz she looked human-ish," only because apparently Lydia wasn't the only one?

And a big "THANK YOU" to Magnus for providing the answer in his usual tactful, classy way.

She didn't look humanish, she looked like Lydia. She was wearing her clothes and head and hair, etc, etc. It was Lydia.

The timeline goes X-O (published MAR / 1992), Shadowman (MAY / 1992), and Solar (DEC / 1992).BloodOfHeroes wrote:I do find it fascinating that when Lydia apparently had ribs, revealed in her final appearance (from SOLAR #16). It seems a superfluous bit o' bioengineering, especially given her carapace in X-O #2:
Clearly Aric didn't kill Lydia, she survived and went on to seduce Jack, then Toyo captured her. She has ribs because by then she was more human, as seen in Shadowman.

Yes, I know. I referenced them all in my pic, above.ManofTheAtom wrote:The timeline goes X-O (published MAR / 1992), Shadowman (MAY / 1992), and Solar (DEC / 1992).
Clearly. Who ever said he did?Clearly Aric didn't kill Lydia

She looked almost fully human in "The Rise of Lydia." (I know you most likely haven't received your copy yet, but she did)she survived and went on to seduce Jack, then Toyo captured her. She has ribs because by then she was more human, as seen in Shadowman.
Then she "devolved" more into Spider Alien form. Then in Shadowman, she looks almost fully human again.
I just pointed out how she changed and how, in SOLAR #16, she looks little (or nothing) like the Lydia we saw in X-O #2.

She shouldn't look exacty like she did in XO since by the time of Shadowman she had become more human.BloodOfHeroes wrote:Yes, I know. I referenced them all in my pic, above.ManofTheAtom wrote:The timeline goes X-O (published MAR / 1992), Shadowman (MAY / 1992), and Solar (DEC / 1992).

And she shouldn't look exactly like she did in XO since by the time of Shadowman she had become more human. Why would she go back to being arachnid again?BloodOfHeroes wrote:ManofTheAtom wrote:She shouldn't look exacty like she did in XO since by the time of Shadowman she had become more human.BloodOfHeroes wrote:She looked almost fully human in "The Rise of Lydia." One more time:ManofTheAtom wrote:And she shouldn't look exactly like she did in XO since by the time of Shadowman she had become more human. Why would she go back to being arachnid again?
Pre-X-O #1: Looks human
X-O #1: Looks less human
X-O #2: Reveals arachnid form ("go[es] back to being arachnid again")
SM #1: Looks human again

When I said that she looks like she did in XO I didn't mean that she was arachnid, I meant her overall look, but you've latched on to the arachnid apperance only.

I was thinking along the lines of Taffy...greg wrote:The initial process to turn a Spider Alien into a "human-looking thing"ManofTheAtom wrote:The process is surgical, not magical.cjv wrote:Maybe changing back and forth requires concetration...and with a big barbarian about to chop your head off limits your ability to concentrate?
Chris
probably involves some infusion of salt water, since humans are basically
made of salt water... and since Spider Aliens don't seem very watery.
After the process, you've got a creature that is known for having multiple limbs
which has undergone a salt-watery process.
What does that remind you of? If you said "starfish", you're right.![]()
The starfish... as salt-watery as it gets...
a creature which can regrow lost limbs...
Spider Alien + Human Conversion = Starfish Power?
Sure, why not.
