if you could win this auction for 150 and only get the A&A 0's and the XO 1's shipped to you...then send it in to cgc on a prescreen you might be able to make a dollar or $2..I would not evenbother shipping the rest of those though...

That lot has a wholesale value of roughly $100....and that's entirely for the X-O #1's.

yeah so it you got the XO's and the A&A's and pulled a few 9.8s outta there then you would make some coin on this lot. I think that it is close to being worth the gamble if it goes for the min amount. The rest you either let him keep/burn/whatever with and you send in a prescreen with your books. Once again not an entirely bad deal, atleast not as bad as some that we have seen...

Those kinds of auctions always make me VERY nervous.

30 copies of X-O Manowar #1? Really?
No other books are within four months of the date on X-O #1...
and he happens to have 30 copies?

Ya know... the X-O Database #1 sure says #1 right on the cover.
And it would fit perfectly in the timeframe of those other books.

Without a picture...
I'd be VERY afraid there's 30 copies of X-O database #1 in that auction.

For the record, I haven't sent the seller a note asking...
so for all I know, there might be 30 of X-O #1 and they might be mint.
But something about that list doesn't 'feel' right.

Looks like he jumbled his titles/descriptions with X-O #0.

Well he better do some changing on the title and descriptions, otherwise I can smell disaster coming around the corner.

I think it's obvious the guy is an ebay rookie, probably a comic rookie also, and definately a VALIANT auction rookie, if he doesn't straighten it out a friendly note from the auction should suffice.

What if it is VH2 X-O 1?

Yet another reason to get more info before paying $150+shipping.
(Though X-O #1 is closer in date to the books in the list than X-O VH2.)

Yeah, but did you read the auction text? He should get a job with the Shop-at-Home channels. What crap. Ooh - you'll never see another one again! It ill never come up! If it does, it will be OW-W!!! Not W like mine! And this printers crease stopping them from grading higher! What BS! What the hell is he talking about?

I've got three of them exactly like it sitting in my office. Rare as hen's teeth! You'll never be able to find one Raw that will grade out like this!!

Nonsense.

It really does have a shot at a 9.6 if those are the only two flaws, and neither crease breaks color. He's right, though, it's probably a 9.4. or 9.2.
With a a scan like that, he could say just about anything and still be a good seller.

Really? You can get a 9.6 with two big non colour breaking creases? Ignoring any other defects this may have.

Certainly, you need to quantify "big". The ones on that Magnus 12 may have been too large. But, I do not believe spine impressions that do not break color automatically eliminate a book from any grade (save 9.9 and 10 where we are really only talking about bindery stuff.).

As I understand it, they use a defect count in the higher grades. So, say you have a book that has minor defects that do not exclude it from a higher grade, but it has too many of them. It would get a lower grade based on the number of defects.

You'll often see people on the CGC boards submit books (mostly bronze)they thought were 9.2s and 9.4 and get 9.6s and 9.8s. The assumption has always been that these spine nicks were the culprits, but I sumbit it may be the defect count, with defects that we do not even account for looking at the books ourselves.
